I just purchased some poly rope from ACE hardware, because it's mildew resistant. Should I have anything to worry about with this material? Fuming? Nails getting caught? Anything?

I've only ever used this for tying stuff down in truck beds and trailers, but I don't see a thing wrong with using this in an enclosure. Doing a quick search on toxicity I have found it's used for bird toys...:-D

Yay, and I also found out it doesn't burn unless under 150 degree temps.

Sounds like you have a winner then!! And the rope comes in all kinds of colors.

Unfortuanetly they only had white, but hey no biggie, 3 bucks for 50 feet of rope. Can't pass that up.

Ace hardware man, $2.99 for 50 ft. they also had $5.99 for 120 ft...but I felt that was a bit too much for his cage.

I actually use the same stuff, wrapped around a 2" PVC pipe, as "logs" in Shank's cage. Fifty feet wrapped about three 1/2 feet of PVC, which serve as ramps to help him climb up/down (it's a very tough surface- his claws haven't been able to damage it much at all). Plus, you can soak it in the bathtub with a very mild bleach solution every other week with the rest of the durable cage furnishings for easy cleaning. Provided you don't use a strong mixture, the polypropylene can probably take years of abuse from an ig.
