Aww those pictures are adorable. I have to know how you managed to get those three together without a fight breaking out? My brothers male bearded dragon likes to fight any reptile that moves, and his female is so stupid that she tries to eat my iguana because he's green.

Hi Desiree-
Your "alien" pic bring up a very interesting characteristic of Iguanas.
The ability for an Iguana to "inflate" their eyeballs is quite an interesting phenomenon and your pic is a perfect example of what it looks like.
I'm gonna do some more research and post a thread about it in another category.
Thanks for bring it up in a round-about way!

Here's my Bulging Eyes observations, for your research, with Vega$. Vega$ bulges her eyes when a) she's trying to loosen shed b) she get's gentle eye-rubbies (please note i dont directly press on her eyes, it's more of a gentle stroking along the sides of her heads, sometimes just a gentle rubbing of her brow) c) she's rubbing her head along side something, like the pillows or me (while i'm giving her headrubbies, she'll work herself into them as well). d) she has stuffed herself silly of food, and trying to work her food down from the throat "pouch" e) she's happily basking and is very relaxed f) there's no reason at all Feel free to use the photo Dom if you want. You'll have to reduce the size and just put the "(c) 2004 Desiree Wong" (or if you want, I can do it) . I dont' often release my photos anymore these days so IZ will be among the few Des. I've raised my guys since they were itty bitty and worked on socialization from the start, and they are handled daily. Socializing them is a daily practice. I can also recognize when is a good time to set them together and not. Usually if I'm setting up a photo, I'll set Vega$ first. Then I'll hold Daytona near her; if Vega$ doesn't shudder bob or eye glare or posture, then that's a good sign. Then I'll do the same with Yucca, meanwhile observing everyone's behavior. I never just plop them together. Vega$, after a bath, is very mellow, as are the dragons. (well, they're not at optimal body temps). There are days that Vega$ will tolerate the dragons and there are days when she will only tolerate the girl. Yucca, isn't always in breeding mode, so when I notice his beard isn't turning black around Daytona; then I can put the two together. Also, Yucca will try to mate with Vega$, hence the sometimes intolerance of Vega$ to Yucca. Daytona gets along with either one. She has no fear of Vega$ and will actually crawl up to sit on her back. Now, sometimes Vega$ will be really orange with her crest and spike rack very tight and erect (after a really good sunning) -- I wont put her with anyone. Oh, drowsy lizards make for good photos too My annual xmas card this year was of the three of them sleeping together. For me, it's all about recognizing the body language of them. I never leave them unsupervised, if they are together. I also think that I'm just fortunate with my animals' collective temperments. Des. Aww those pictures are adorable. Cool pics, Desiree. Did you place the last two into Photoshop and "posturize" them? I sure like the effects you can get with that.

Those are the original shots. My shooting style is to take the objects, as is, given lighting and the camera, and try not use to software to tweek anything. I just shoot using macro and the flash; I have a Nikon CP 990. Des

I like taking shots outside, more than in! Esp, if I can capture the effects of the sunlight. (c) Desiree Wong (c) Desiree Wong I set up the "set" on my front lawn. It's a table decorated with xmas goods and pillows. The lawn gets west and south facing sun I really liked the warm dusk effect it gives to the shot. I did about 50 shots, to get the right one for my 2002 xmas card. Ended up using the first, which I also entered into a photo competition ( picture.com/display.asp?ID=1167004); photo is published in one of their books. I think this year, I'm going to start working on the xmas shots in the summer at the beach

Awesome pics Des! Especially with them not being tweaked at all! I LOVE using the sun...the one I'm using is obviously NOT a reptile...and it wa a spur of the moment pic while taking pics of the newest Humane Society animals...this one is one of them...meet Shakespear...who really enjoyed playing with my little Wal-Mart guy...lol. I love the way the sun hit him though. When I can arrange it...I love using the sun...but it's never staged...it's always one of those "OMG...I gotta get a pic of that!"
