Our house guest is a female! And she is a beauty! Her name was Cookie monster. She is about 5 foot and about 8 years old weighing in at about 15 lbs. We have a vet app next week as she seems to have an infection in her mouth.

Good looking gal.. Looks as if the nails need a little trim, maybe a good job for the vet beings she is going soon. You say our house guest. Are you looking to relocate her if you can to a decent home, or is she there to stay. Either way good going and good luck..

Thanks, and yes her nails are terrible!!!!!!! They are starting to curve in weird directions, so I am definately asking the vet to trim them, then she can try her teeth out on him ;D. Other than her mouth and her claws, she has a toe that must have been broken before and healed very badly. and it looks like someones been chewing on her spikes. And OMG! Someone needs to ban the sale of heat rocks, one tiny burn on her leg. I think she was once a free roamer or had a room all to herself once, she kept going to doors wanting in or out Im not sure. The plan is to rehome, hubby absolutely adores Venus. I told him "lets see how it goes first". I love her too but 3 Igs and a Savannah Monitor. If we can make it work she will stay. I cant re-home till she recovers if it is stomatitis anyway.

;D She is a curious one, but then they all are. I cant lie she does makes me a little nervous because of her size! But its only been a day. I know my other 2 will get to be her size, but its different when they grow up with you. You get to know them before they get big enough to do serious damage. I wish I could get more info on her past and find out why her first 2 owners didnt keep her, I have so many questions! Like has she ever laid eggs, were there any complications, stuff that I really need to know. Her cage will be built next, she came with a 3H x 3L x 2W cage which I extended to 5 Long, poor girl. Its not a very good set up but its better than what is was, we are going to hang clear shower curtains around the cage and stick a humidifier in there today.

shes beautiful!!! hopefully the vet check will go smoothly...just wondering, how are you making sure she doesnt get in contact with your other igs, and do you change clothes and wash after you handle her and go to your other animals? I was just wondering.
Other then that shes really awesome!!

I take care of the others first then tend to her needs. I dont hold her as much as my husband or we would both be changing clothes constantly. But we are being carefull. She SEEMS to have a very sweet personality. I had her frogged eyed today, I was very suprised. She hasnt eaten alot but its probaly because of her mouth.

Yah, I know what you mean about the Heat Rocks.. My girl that I adopted has a good burn on herfront right leg[ good sized one, that still looks like old, dry, gray leather, and I don't think it will ever get any better] a good sized one on her right side and acouple on her tummy. Her's aren't from a heat rock, but in my book is just as bad if not maybe worse. They had her in one of those Iguana kingdom cages with 1 light fixture with a 100 watt bulb in it that hung inside the cage and was on 24/7. To say the least she hung on that fixture. I was so mad at them when I saw her do that. {these were in-laws} I have her going pretty good now, she has put on so much weight, and they can't even believe that it is the same Iguana after just 1 year. She still is very aggresive if you get to close. I am the only one that she will let get as close as I do. I think this summer I am going to let her out of her cage and see just what she does and how she acts then. Going to have to make sure the cats are in the garage with hubby.. Anyway I wish you luck with Venus. Knowing the care that you give she is going to enjoy, I am sure... :0)

I always have never-ending laundry, and yes Venus is worth it. I will definately post an update on the vet visit. I just hope she is in good health besides the infection. I dont know if her previous owners knew how to care for her or not, but it seems that she had loving owners that gave her alot of attention, she will actually come to us on her own and lay down for a head rub!

Update, Venus was put on antibiotics for her mouth, vet said it didnt look bad at all but to keep an eye on it for swelling and to clear away any nasty build up around the mouth. She weighs 10 lbs, sure felt like 15 to me LOL! Other than her mouth she appears quite healthy. My hubby cut her claws himself last night and she was so good about it! Such a good girl ;D She is adjusting very quickly and very well.
