Ummmmmm, seems my sweet little Angel girl, MAY be a handsome big Angelo BOY! LOL
I honestly have NO clue what sex this iggy is (and it doesn't matter except for my own curiosity), but until now I was pretty sure she was a girl. She had all the signs:
Small to NO "brain bumps"
Long thin head
No puffy jowls
Smaller overall frame for her age (but I knew that could be due to her poor care)
Vet wasn't able to locate the hemipenes via physical exam
Very small/hardly existant femoral pores
Overall "dainty" female look to her
Vets diagnosis of a female Ig!
Well..............today I was looking at Angel(o), and noticed these HUGE femoral pores, with a LOT of thick waxy stuff! I mean, even more than Elvis! (And he's positively a boy, he lost a hemipene a week after we got him, due to severe dehydration from the pet store). If she really is a he, that would better explain why Elvis submitted to him - that had me really puzzled - given how aggressive he's been with every other female Ig he's come into contact with in the past!
So, is it totally unheard of for a female to have large, wax filled (or over filled in this case) femoral pores? I've never heard of it, but thought I'd ask anyway.
If she really is a boy, then I wouldn't have to worry about $paying her, which would be nice. She's been really orange lately, and I've been worried sick about making sure I watch her soooo close for eggs. I do NOT want to lose her, and I think carrying and trying to lay eggs would definatly do it for her given her physical condition
Anyway, it looks like I might be the proud momma of 2 very handsome Iggy boys!
~Nan
P.S. Maybe I should change her/his name to "hermie" - short for hermaphidite (sp?) LOL Just kidding....... ~Nan
