I can get a picture of any (external) part you want. Femoral Pores sounds like the main muscle on the hind legs... I'll see what my books say they are.
It's really quite tame now... I can manipulate it into any position I want to, as long as I choose the right time (I can hypnotize it by petting around itis neck).
Last night I took pictures of it wearing a little Santa hat that I took off of a stuffed animal.
It started when I was trying to feed it, but it wouldn't eat. I set a piece of lettuce on its head, and it stayed that way for half an hour... until I took it off.
I know lettuce isn't the most nutritional thing, but we were eating a salad, and we have been having a bit of a hard time getting the iguana to eat, so I figured I'd try it JIC it likes it.

Mark, make sure you get the base of the tail too... which shouldn't be too difficult since you'll be gettin' pics of the femoral pores!

Here's what I managed to get... let me know what changes (angle, etc.) to make to get what you need to see.

These photos are kinda fuzzy but from what I can see I'm going to have to say she's a girl! I don't see any really visible femoral pores and certainly no distinct hemipenal bulges in the base of the tail. This supports my first opinion when i saw the first bunch of photos. This iguana doesn't have any large cranial lobes or jowls that would indicate it's a male. It could be that it's just too young to have these sexual characteristics but there should be some evidence of femoral pores at that size. I say GIRL!!

Like Jiffy said........the pics are kind of fuzzy so we can't make out the femoral pores....but... Still looks like a girl to me!

Hi Mark-
So glad everything went well with the Christmas Ig! Looks like they all got along just fine.
I too vote female based on head shape, lack of distinct femoral pores and tail thickness. But, of course it's still to soon to really tell. I just love playing the "guess the Ig gender" game! LOL
Keep us posted.

Thanks... I'l give it another year and ask about gender again.
I have a different question: The last inch or so of his tail is sort of whithered and dried up, like it's dead or something (sort of like the way a branch on a plant like a pathos when it dies at the end... almost crunchy or burnt looking)
Any idea what is causing it? I'll try to take a picture of it sometime.
Thanks again.

Hi Mark-
Rex had the last inch of his tail slammed in a car door a couple of years ago. It too dried up and just stayed that way for amost two years. Then, just recently it just fell off.
It seemed that the end of the tail was damaged enough to stop blood flowing to it, but not enough to just slough off entirely.
My guess is it's an old injury to the tail. As long as it's not soft, swollen, or oozing any fluids, it should be fine until it falls off.
Pics would be helpful though.

I would be really worried about dry Gangrene tale. Sections of the tale will dry up and fall off. Unfortunately it will keep going up the tale. You should really get your ig to the vet and have it checked out. If that is what it is, the Dr will have to amputate the tale so it doesn't kill him. Melissa Kaplin has a section on her site about it. www.anapsid.org/gangrene.htmlGood luck

Yes, I agree entirely. Dry Gangrene is a serious and life threatening condition.
Perhaps a vet check is in order.
