Ok so im new here and my name is Jenna. I have a iguana named Aj. I got him at some feast thing. I felt so bad for all the iguanas in the small 5 gallon tanks so i had to win one and i did. Im not sure how old he is but i had him since July 27th 2003. People are usually surprised that i know so much about iguanas when i tell them that I am 12 but i am very devoted to making my ig happy and keeping it healthy

Hi Jenna-
Welocme to the Zone. We're so glad you joined. Go on you for taking in that precious little Ig. I despise folks who use them as prizes. Where are you from? Some states have bans on that. I'm in NJ and it's illegal here.
Post a pic when you can.

Hi Jenna It is SO sad that people use live creatures that way. Makes ya sick doesn't it? **sigh** Anyway...Good that you have this little guy and I'm proud of you for trying to learn about it and take care of it right. If there is anything we can help you with, please let us know!! Welcome to Iguana-Zone

WOW 12 that is GREAT!! Im trying to teach my boys about em for the oldest is interested but alittle fearful of baby. That is so sad that they just give them away like if they were goldfish or something!!! For we all know they arent and cost alot more then that and not to mention the companionship Atleast one went to a GREAT person Good Job

Hi Jenna, way to go girl! We need more people like you who are willing to not only rescue iguanas, but learn how to take care of them. I'm glad you're here!

They fall into the exotic animal ordinance and all exotics are banned in NYC. There are other places where exotics are banned, but the entire state of Hawaii has them on the banned list and igs are destroyed as soon as they are found. They are afraid of iguanas wiping out native species...which could happen. This ordinace is overlooked quite often in NYC in regards to ball pythons (which are on the list), igs and some of the other "exotics" because they don't pose that much of a problem...but caution is still extremely important. You don't want to flaunt it. www.iguanaden.com/issues/nyc.htm
