Hello Marie: What an interesting story. I think it is fabulous that you took on the care and responsibility of these iguana's.You invested both time and money into their well being. Hat's off to you!! I have great respect for anyone who will walk the mile when it comes to the well being of another animal or reptile.

Thank you Shannon. Even though I didn't go looking to become an iguana owner, I haven't regretted it for myself. I just wish I was more financially able to provide more for them. They are great pets.

The nail issue worries me. Nails rust so I wonder if the nail had rusted enough to become toxic to her system. The vet who said to allow it to stay should NEVER have said that! Even if it is the non-rusting type and was a galvanized nail...the galvanizing could cause toxicity. And passing it without problem!! Intestines twist and turn...that nail might have torn a small ppinprick of a hole...or several pinpricks...enough to cause leakage from the bowels into the body cavity causing a different sort of toxicity by contamination. All of these could cause the symptoms you described in the ig that ate the nail. Oooo...some vets...
