Zair is aggressive with any of the stuffies he has access to...including my cammo arm guards.
Good to hear he's taking the meds so well! Go Eki!

Well apparently iggy owners that do not use indoor uvb lights but keep their iggy's outdoors all summer long are often okay because the iguana stores the uvb rays. Also that iguanas in the wild will drag their pores along the rocks/sand/etc to scent mark and if you use a black light you can see the markings.
Also... to calm an upset iggy when giving the ointment, wrap him with a towel over his head and lightly press on his eyes to calm him. The pressure will relax him apparently.

Yup...all of those are true to some extent. An iguana who is outside though must be for more than just a summer of outside time for the UVB (actually...the vitamin D3) storage. This needs to begin as early in the spring as possible and continuing late into the fall depending on where you live. This would obviously not work for everyone. Some form of UVB should still be offered in the winter since not all igs process their diets as efficiently as others.
Zair is a big dragger during the "seasonal" months. It's a protein so it will show up under black light.
I have heard many people over the years use the towel/eye treatment for the fidgety ig. Seriously aggressive igs this doesn't always work for, but most of the time it seems to. She gave you some good advice...:-)

Alright.. An update as of today..... 5.3.08....
Well apparently we had a followup visit today at 8am thank god for the friday reminder call...
Eki has been very violent, and increasingly mean and dom against my boyfriend and myself. When trying to administer the antibotics orally he bit the suringe and swallowed it.. EVIL LIZARD is his name now for the few weeks he's been a terror. He's eating like a hose, tearing up his newspaper after pooping.. DIGGING... A lot of digging at the newspaper. He tried to bite at me which is the first time... EVIL LIZARD is his name for now.
The Vet took a look at his leg, it was looking better. The vet dug the cavity out again and checked the white subtance and well eki is healing, he's doing well another two weeks and he'll be a full healthy boy again which scares us cause he's been so mean and fiesty with us lately. But he's doing fine besides being annoying, pooping a ton, eating a ton and trying to bite.. oy.. =/

Do you cover his eyes when you give him the meds and general "lizard not like" things?

He had been taking the biotics for a week just fine, no real coaxing, he loves the grape flavor. He was just not in the mood that night.. And normally I rub the back of his head. I need to start covering his eyes yes.. =/

Have you also been offering probiotics everyday to keep his gut flora boosted while he's on the probiotics?

So Eki's leg is bad again, back to the vet we go. It got swollen and infected again since the vet scraped it out last time when it was looking great. Oy. All over again we go.

It may take a couple treatments to get better, try not to worry yourself "too" much.
