So.. After months of arguing what's the best idea and style we've finally sat down and talked things out. We're gonna go with something similar to Moe's with insulation. But we're going to have two large doors in front for easy access and well we like being able to clean it easily too. But we're building two halves and going to secure them together so that when we move it'll be easy to move. We're both 24 and looking forward to moving at least 2-3 more times before we buy a house/condo etc.
But I have some questions since It's been a few years since we built Eki's last environment and all of my memory fails me now.
Questions....
1. Type of paint that will hold up to being wiped down with mild soap, disinfectant wipes, etc. A paint that can hold up to misting, being cleaned and safe for Eki. Also should we use some sort of sealant? I didn't before and I noticed the paint color has dulled over time.
2. Suggestion on lighting. I see a lot of people secure the lights on the inside but I've also seen them sat flat on top maybe hanging down a bit but both styles always have a mesh/wire to prevent the ig from touching the bulb. Not sure if I want a set in look where the lamp is mostly on the outside or all the way inside. (I have those light clamps from cagesbydesign that screw to the wall and there's a bracket that clips to the porcelain part of the lamp.. Eki's loosened both, and well they aren't that tight or secure and a pain to put back up if loosened and knocked down).
3. Vinyl tile sheets, or ceramic tile with grout for the bottom?
Well I think that's all the questions and concerns I had for now.
I'll most likely have more questions as we get around to buying more pieces and start construction in a few weeks.
I already have purchased PVC 1/2inch to build a floating hammock for the top level and then enough PVC to build a triangle ladder for him to climb up. The PVC pieces will be wrapped in a thin carpeting material that we used last time his claws grip it just enough but never get caught. The hammock and a lower hammock for when he feels warm both will have a mesh material for lounging. Similar to the PVC habitats ordered on-line with their PVC ladders and hammocks.
