So tonight was my first night holding baby ringo. other than treating him for the mites. went fine i suppose. calmed down pretty quick and actually fell asleep in my hands. then when i got up to put him back in the tank he started freaking out and trying to get away. when i set him down in his tank he seemed ok then when i tried to give one last pet he scrabbled into the corner of his tank. normal? i thought falling asleep first time really holding him was pretty good. hope i'm on the right track

he is so funny. bathed him today he is finally getting good color. some really pretty blue coming in around his mouth and head. calms down so quickly when i hold him. he was walking up and down my arm... sitting on my head. not running from my hand when he was getting too far out of reach on the couch when i reached out to get him back. now that he is back in his cage he scurries around like a nut when i get close trying to get away. its odd but at least he seems to be very tolerate of me handling him.

Yes, my ig acts different in and out of his cage as well. A lot calmer after he realises that you won't be eating him today at least

As cute as it is, allowing them get in the habit of getting on top of your head is not a good idea. For one thing, in an iguana's mind that puts them in a dominant position over YOU and can lead to aggression. Another thing you have to remember is that it won't be small for very long. Imagine a 5 ft long 10lb lizard attempting to scramble up your FACE with those long razor sharp claws!

HOW PRECIOUS! It's hard to remember Zair ever being that freakin' small! Merlin's right about the head. They can do a lot of damage even when their NOT a Godzilla-sized lizard. Just words of wisdome from being on the boards for yrs and seeing that one over and over again...;-)

duly noted! it makes perfect sense now that i'm hearing it. wasn't thinking too caught up in the cuteness. i'll make sure we stop that habit before it goes any further. thanks!
