Hello everyone....recently i ran across an article about seminal plugs...but it was a very vague and uninformative article....It stated that seminal plugs can be used to determine the iguanas sex. If seminal plugs are present then its a male. Has anyone had any experiences with seminal plugs or any info they are willing to share on the topic. Thankyou!!! Males will normally excrete the plugs while defecating. Some will just just drop plugs all over the place. My male actually one time decided that my husband's hand was the proper place to drop a couple nice and slimey plugs. But yes only males have these.

The plugs in males grow and secrete a substance used for marking territory. This substance they secrete has a waxy feel to it and can only been seen by UV-Blacklight and iguanas can "smell" using their jacobson organ that comes with the tongue flicking to see if there is a male in that area.
