I feel that we have put to much stress at once on my little guy. Question is, is he to far into stress to get out of the funk he's in?
First ~ I do plan on taking him to the vet!! I just can't do it till next month sadly. I am looking for possible temp solutions/issues for in the mean time.
We have recently moved.. He's a free roamer.. 4-5yrs old. In the old place we had the shelves set up in the living room, nice and high.. going across 2 windows. Had a ramp so he can get up and down as he wishes.
While we were moving, we left him there. So we can get things set up here at the new place. He was there for about 2-3 days by himself before we moved him here. (it was only across the street, so we were easily able to check up on him, feed him and such.)
I think with the sstart of the move in general... Cleaning stuff up, packing, taking away his environment is where the stress most likely started. We finally got him into the new place with us.
He explored for quite a bit the first day, getting to know the place. Obviously when he was done, he came to me as if saying (Ok mom, I'm done with this place, lets go home).... the poor thing didn't realize that this is now home.
He has his very own bedroom. The shelves are set up the same way, they are lower than what they used to be, but still going across 2 windows. Has his basking/heated sleep area like he did before. So at least the set up is similar to what he is used to.
However... lately.... He refuses to be under his heat and uv light. he'll go into the corner instead. I do take him outside we both will sit in the sun, but he goes back inside with 1/2 - 1 hr. Over here seems to better for that, it doesn't appear to stress him out like it normally does when we are outside. His routine and schedule is out of wack, but last couple of days I've been fixing that problem.
Today I'm trying to cut out some of the stress. I 've the curtains to the windows closed, not going to open them today.. Hate to say it, but not going to use his uv light today, I just want him to relax and get warm right now. I might turn it on later in the day, however.... He wasn't under his heat lamp last night, woke up with him being so very cold. I got a ceramic lamp and a red heat night light on him right now. He seems to be enjoying that right now.
I have the door to the bedroom closed so he isn't overly to distracted or disturbed by the cat. So far, all this seems to be working. He's actually staying under his heat lamps and I have the bedroom heater on also to warm the air.
His color scares me a little though. He's got that muddy color with an orange tint. I really don't like that. I hear horror stories when they this color. Which is why I'm asking if he's to far into the stress level to work with. I'm always giving him baths at least twice a day, I mist him down through out the day. Mist his food, I give him fruit chunks in a bowl of water so he drinks the fruit water. He eats, but not nearly as much as he normally does.
I'm worried sick about him right now. I know that a move will cause stress, but I didn't expect it to be this bad.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
