I've got an igg named Syd thats about a year and a half old, and I believe she is female, because of the femoral bumps, but she has some orange coloring showing on her legs lately which I thought was only common to males approaching mating season. Can anyone help me out? Cheers, Mike Attachments:

Hey Lannmann! I'm definitely gonna say GIRL on the ventral shot. Orange coloring is more wide-spread over a male's body...but females get it in spots too around this time of year. BTW...is she recovering from an injury to her right arm or hand? Just curious because of the sharp deliniation between the orange on her arm and the grey-green of her hand.

oh cool! I didnt know females could turn kinda orange too! She's fine, shes actually mid-shed and hasn't shed her feet yet!
I've got another question, if shes a girl, does that mean she may get gravid soon and lay eggs?

Possibly. Its around the right time of year for it. Just watch how much she eats and drinks. As she gets close to laying time, she'll be eating less and less, and drinking more and more. When she's within about a week and a half, she'll probably even stop eating altogether. You can make her a simple nesting box with one of those large, covered cat boxes. Put a heat mat in the bottom and then fill the box with rabbit pellets. You may have to cover the entrance with a towel or something for her to feel safe to lay her eggs. Once you get it built, put her inside it a couple of times a day. If she's not ready, she'll come back out on her own. When she's ready, she'll stay in there and go to work. She won't come out again for 6 to 10 hours. When she finishes and comes out...be prepared...she's going to be SCARY SKINNY! But, don't worry, its normal, and she'll put all that weight back on within weeks.
