HELLO!!!! my neighbor asked me if i lost a lizard. lol i said no! he told me there was a big lizard in his pool to my surprise it was a big iguana. i have always wanted one, i washed him or her in my bathtub with warm water to wash off the chlorine. ofcoarse my mom has freeked out but i dont care. It seems to be very tame about 4 feet in length, i think it is a she because the jowels are not that big and it is very long. there are a couple missing spots on her skin like if something tried to prey on it like the size of a dime pink skin. I am super excited to treat her like family and bring out her colors. she ate some squash from my hand. she is currently in my bathtub till tom morning i will be building the enclosure for my room. I would really appreciate some tips ive had a big argentine tegu but this is a different world. will she stay this tame? ;D

Hello Luis The iguana is still pretty young but he/she does look female. Welcome to the world of owning an iguana. I suppose the very basics right now are a safe place to keep her, heat (90-100 degrees, but careful not to make it too hot), and the right food. Tegus look like they would be about the same size as iguanas full grown but iguanas have longer tails. I did realize that Tegus are carnivorous though- Iguana's are vegetarians. Since you were a previous reptile owner I'm sure you know about UVB bulbs. I hope its just the camera angle but her lower jaw looks smaller than it should be, which is caused from lack of UVB. Some iguanas are more friendly (friendly in lizard terms) than others and its mainly males when I do hear about an aggressive iguana. It seems that as they get older they become more acclimated around people or sometimes more aggressive, time will tell (and it can also vary with the seasons). I'm excited for more pictures of her when she starts getting her color back -Jenna
