Hi all. My name is Rachel. My partner and I have one male red iguana and a pair of water dragons. We've recently been struggling with aggression from the iguana. He has bitten my partner several times fortunately I stay well clear when he gets in his moods. He has also just started going for our water dragons too. He is a year old so not very big yet but I worry that as he gets bigger his bites will become more dangerous. Can anyone give me any advice. We have separated the water dragons off from him but he makes his way to the edge of their tank and stares at them as if trying to find a way in. :/ please help me

Hi Rachel Since he is young then he is probably going through what I call "teenage years." It's normal; they test their boundaries and have an attitude. Although it is normal I know that in no way is it fun Having a place for him to feel like he is hiding and out of your view (and the water dragon's view) is good. He might feel like he has to compete with the water dragon's and that could be adding to his aggression. Iguanas are territorial so it is best that he stays separated from the water dragons - also their food requirements are different so even if they would get along they shouldn't be housed together. I would recommend getting a good pair of gloves, if you don't already, for when you hold him or for protection from him trying to bite you. How big is his enclosure? If you are reaching down from over his head it's natural for him to assume it's a bird of prey (although your hand looks nothing like one) and become aggressive. Please check out the site and post pictures of the little guy if you want to ;D -Jenna
