Hi Folks- Rexy got his weekly manicure the other day and I thought I'd share some pics of it with you. We use the Rotary Tool method. My wife is an expert at it at this point. Rex is so ggod about it. He just sits there with his foot out and waits until it's all done.

Uhmmmm.......I really need for Rex to have a little chat with Thrasher about this!! and I wish I had a tool like that I have to use regular nail clippers or my own fingernail file. ;D

I bought a rotary tool to use, but I think I've decided that I like the regular clippers better. I think Gil likes the clippers better too.

The first time Rex had his nails done this way was by the vet. I was so shocked that I had another option than clippers. It seemed that every time I did his nails with clippers I ended up cutting one too short and made him bleed. I felt like I was torturing him. The first few times we did it with the rotary tool I needed to have someone else there to help hold him down (from running away). Each nail I would talk to him and give him lots of kisses. When done I would give him a treat. Now he is so used to it and the sound of the machine doesn't scare him at all.
Also, I only use the lowest setting on the tool.

Tammy, what tip do you use ?? I looked at them the other day and couldn't decide which would be the safest. I was picturing myself sanding off Thrashers whole toe.

Hi Tesa-
See pic #2 above.
It's a cone shaped tip, using as close to the end as possible at the lowest speed.
;D

I saw THAT but when I was looking at tips there were about a thousand different textures to choose from!

OK Tesa-
It's named an Aluminum Oxide Parabolic Wheel.
It's used for "cleaning, deburing, grinding and polishing most materials"
Hope this helps.

I'm in the nail clipper club too! I've heard of others using the dremils and all have had really good things to say about it...and it sure would be "nicer" than cutting to close to the quick.

I'm so mad! I went to the hardware store, scoped out the dremmel tools, picked up a couple, read the packaging, set them back down, detached the kids from me, removed Thrasher from my head and made her get in the basket, detached another child, scolded Thrasher and told her she had to stay in the basket, picked out a tip for the dremmel, detached another child, caught Thrasher midair as she leaped for the top shelf of the aisle, grabbed a dremmel tool, made for the checkout at top speed, detangled Thrasher from my hair, gave kids the mom face and told them to get in the van, threw some money at the checkout girl, grabbed my bag, drove home trying to ignore the chaos of 3 boys in the back, came in the house, excitedly got out my new device for Thrashers manicure,and......... realized I picked up an engraver instead of a dremmel. **sigh**

Is Thrasher grounded now?
How bad did you take it out on the kids? ;D
You could always use it to engrave into the boys foreheads:
LEAVE MOM ALONE WHEN SHE IS SHOPPING!
