Strange behavior part II ! Spyro starts to move his head up and down and hiss, when my husband want to pet him,or get him out of his tank. With me,he is o.k. and tame. Is this breeding season? He eat and poop normaly. Why he dont try to bite me,just my husband. What do you think?

It sounds as if either it is in breeding season..... or Spyro has decided that you belong to him, and the husband is a male threat to him. Make sure hubby doesn't allow Spyro to be the boss!!

Hi Ursula-
Time to start taking control. Do NOT stop handling him and petting him. You need to be the boss, or he could stay this way!
Sounds like heat. How old is he now?
Read up on male heat aggression. You may have entered the time.
Regards, Dominick

No, you shouldnt leave him alone. That just teaches him that if he's "bad" then he gets his way. Is it possible that Spyro is going into season ?? There's really nothing you can do other that wait and hope for the best.

He (or she) is 2 years old.I really think he is a boy becouse he try to bite my hubby always, when he wants to pet him.(he dont like boy s lately) I pet him every day 5 or more times . If it is a season, why nothing changes on his femoral pores. It s very tiny.No changes in pooping,eating.... I know i m pain in the ..,but i have no experiances on seasons.I read a LOT,but i m still very worryed.

Ursula, you're NOT a pain in anything! I'd rather have you asking questions than getting frustrated and giving up on Spyro.
Gil hasn't been through a bad heat yet, so I don't really know what to expect either. As far as a love sock, I'd say try it. Maybe it will help his frustrations.

If the pores a very tiny, it may be that Spyro is female. Girls get mean during breeding season also. Trying a love sock won't hurt anything. I gave Thrasher one (cause I didn't know if she was male or female) and she just used it for a pillow! ;D Don't give up! It will take some time, but the "old Spyro" will come back to you.

Ursula, I hope I didn't offend you! I didn't mean to imply that you would give up on Spyro! I really just wanted you to know that we're all learning and asking questions is a good thing. It's always better to ask for help and advice than to be worried.
