Has anyone noticed their iguana's head just vibrating. Not bobbing, up or down, or side to side. Sorta like a pager on quiet mode.
I've noticed this with Vega$ when we left a couple times on trips. She did it for her sitter. She did it just before we left. She did it when we came home. She's also done it when I take her to the car and at the vet's office. She's a bit chicken -- scared of big bunnies, dogs, birds. *sigh*
In V's case, you got to wonder if she has issues of separation anxiety and fear of furries and feathered animals.
I've asked another firend, and her iguana does this just before feeding time. She's excited 'bout her food, perhaps?
Some day, we'll be good at iguana speak.
Des.

Hi Des-
Rex will "shudder" his head like a shudder bob. Usually him trying to assert his alpha male. I just push his head down and tell him to stop it.
If something really, really scares him, which isn't often anymore, his whole body will vibrate like a pager. LOL

Thrasher turns pager ig the minute "real" sun touches her. It freaked me out the first time she did it! I thought she was having a seizure or something.!! lol Rather than kicking back and enjoying herself, she turns into a spastic little witch! I keep trying to tell her that she is a LIZARD, she is supposed to ENJOY the sun. doesn't work, she always acts like I'm torturing her. I use a "hindquarters leash for her, and when it's time to come in the house she turns into a speed demon......running for the door "lemme in lemme in". The little nutcase! ;D

Is it possible she spots things that spook her? It's crazy as to how keen their eyesight is! Vega$ cocked her head and stared at the sky. And i'm like, huh? Next think you know, the plane buzzes by. Also the additional things on Vega$' scaredycat list: cars bicycles skateboards babystrollers Our yard is adjacent to the sidewalk and street; so she sees all these things. The moment she's spooked, she beelines for the front door. The dragons get more freaky with birds flying over head. Daytona flattens herself into the grass. Yucca hides against me. At first I thought she was just scared of "everything", but the more I watched her it became apparent...Its the sun I'm tellin ya!! I've often wondered, since she spent the first 4 years of her life NEVER seeing sunshine, if it is somehow overwhelming to her. If it stimulates some hormone that .....oh nevermind......I'm getting too complicated for myself. ;D

Do we need to get her tiny sunglasses? *ducks* I know you read this already, but in case other folks haven't. www.anapsid.org/iguana/sunlight.htmlAs for Thrasher, just keep taking her out? Perhaps a sunning cage with a hideybox? She can then be outside, but have a palce to retreat to. Could also be cloud movement. We live in serious wind country and when the clouds are really moving Zok gets nervous and really watches the sky.
