Bob seems to be out of season fully now, or at least back to normal. I can step into his cage, pet him, feed him, even pick him up without any signs of aggression. However he hates to return to the indoors after being outside, even if he is on the cool side, and gets aggressive within seconds of stepping though the door -- even in rooms he has never seen before.
I don't think there is any way to counter this, I just have to give him time to calm back down right?

Hmmmmm.... When you say "return inside" do you mean that you have been outside with him or that he's been outside and you come back to bring him in? I'm curious because Thrasher gets very aggressive if I "leave" her outside alone and then bring her in. But if I am holding her the whole time she doesn't get AS freaky. Strange creatures they are!

Gil never wants to go back inside either. Let's face it, the view outside is MUCH more interesting than the view inside, not to mention all the neat smells.

We let Iggi stay outside as much as she wants. When she wants to come back inside, she just walks up to the screen door, and we open it, and she walks on in. She is NEVER left outside alone. One of us is always there in case a dog comes by, or a motorcycle scares her.

Well I got sloppy last night and was not too careful taking Bob's harness off last night and paid for it.
After nine years I finally joined the club of owners who have been biten.
It was just a glancing blow across the pad of my thumb and he did not get his full mouth on it but he still nearly filleted it. By the time that I was able to get him up stairs and zipped into his cage I had blood running down my arm and dripping from my elbow.

Zair hates to come inside, too. He thrashes all the way to the cage. When I hold him he just wants to get down and explore...so that never works either. The outdoors makes them feel that "wild inside" feeling... .

As usual Thrasher has to be backward from the other igs. ;D She hates when I take her out! If she is walking on the ground (using a hip leash) when we head back toward the house, as soon as she sees the door she takes off running for it...pulling against the leash until she is running on her hind legs.

Maybe we could get Thrasher and Bob to talk things over.
Anyway 36 hours after the wound occured the bandage is off, dead skin clipped away, it is scabed over nicely, swelling is down, and I am able to hold a pencil again. Within the week you won't be able to tell I was bitten. I love how fast my body heals.
I had three punctures in the center of the pad of my thumb and a slice on the side of the thumb half way between the nail and knuckle. The slice was a heavy 1/4 inch deep but only about an 1/8 inch into the thumb so there is a flap of skin over it. I spent over ten minutes last night dabbing hydrogen peroxide on it just to watch it bubble. It was so cool to watch the bubbling I did not notice that it started to drip on the carpet so I had to soak some out of the carpet.

Mark O-M-G!!!!
You were my last hold-out.
Sorry to here about the bite after nine years. That sucks.
I guess Rex is just about the only male Ig I know who doesn't resort to biting.
I wrestled with him pretty fiercely in the last couple of days (he HATES to come inside if he is not ready, to spite the looming thunderstorm!) and he thrashes violently. The other day he actually snorted at me like a bull! I LMAO! So, I purposefully restrain him to maintain control and even then, no attempt to bite.
Of course my arms are shred pretty badly, but no biting attempts. Good boy!
So sorry to hear about the bite. Of course it's not Bob's fault, he was just telling you to lay off! LOL
Glad to hear you are a fast healer!

Dom, you are alone at this point. How old is Rex, I am sure that you still have plenty of time to be sampled, don't worry?
Bob has not been out since he bit me. I has been raining the last two days and I had to go to St Louis today for a job hunt.
I am amazed at how fast the whole bite was. I was watching him the whole time and I never saw his mouth on my thumb or even open.

understood completely Mark. I've been bitten 3 times. None of which I actually SAW, matter of fact I didn't even feel it until a few seconds later! and then I was all intent on seeing how many actual tooth marks I could count. lol **duh**

So far I've been lucky, (knocking on wood). Zok has never attempted to bite. However she is a female.

I only have three visible tooth marks but the teeth from the lower jaw more sliced my thumb open than bit down. It is easy to see his teeth when he is eating a treat like orange, bread, or banana and those things are big and shaped like sharkes teeth.
