I was laying on my back in the lawn and Bob climed on to me so his nose was a few inches from my face settled down then stood up and yawned. That is not the view you want of a yawning adult male ig. Man is that a big mouth and has the muscles to back it up.
I think that Bob has also burped a few times most recently today after walking home from the vets.

Don does this sort of hiccuping thing, scares the life out of any unsure visitors braving their first stroke of an ig!!! Its like he jumps up a bit and twitches, which makes a loud noise as his claws scrape on the wood of his shelf.

Mark! I bet your nose tucked itself inside your face! ;D Kerry, what you are referring to are called myoclonic spasms. They are involuntary muscle spasms. When they occur as a single occasional incident, it's a very normal thing. (and almost funny to see. Thrasher always gets a "What the heck was that?" look on her face ;D ) If, however, they are accompanied by disorientation, tremors, twitches and/ or loss of motor function they may be symptoms of kidney failure or MBD.

I nearly died laughing the first time Elvis farted! LOL I heard the noise, sounded like it came from Elvis, but I had no idea they could fart! I actually spent 10 minutes accusing my husband, then Elvis did it again! ROTFL! It was rather hilarious as I was chewing my hubby out for rudely "smelling up" the living room, while Elvis - the smelly culprit - just hung out on my shoulder LOL
I also saw him yawn for the first time yesterday - rather intimidating seeing that humungous mouth and all those razor sharp teeth!

I didn't know iguana's could yawn...I know that when they're too hot they open their mouths to sweat, so maybe my ig was just yawning at times when I thought he was sweating. That's neat to know.

They wil also open their mouthes when they are stressed. Zok used to do it when we would first go outside or in the car.
