Sounds about right -- just to refresh our memories how old and large is the ig and how long have you had him? These things are never over; I have been working daily with Bob for nine years and never get a break from it.

I've had Bob for 9 years, made great progress for a long time then he flips out for a week (or a few weeks) then goes back. I am in the same boat as you right now -- but I am worried about my fingers more than what he is thinking but I have not moved to armor as of yet. Try picking him up taking him outside for a walk around. He either may love it, like Bob now, and calm right down or be scared into submission (doubtful). When he runs from you when picking him up don't let him win -- that is the fastest way to be trained by a lizard. Even now when Bob is nuts I can walk right up to him and pick him up -- just as long as I keep my hand out of easy snapping range (I grab the base of his tail and slide my other hand under his belly from behind). But I more have the problem of him charging at me from across the lawn than of him taking off to leave it.
Keep at it girl. Just remember that you are dealing with a primal animal with a much smaller brain than you and a two foot lizard won't doo much in the way of damage but a 7.5 pound 52 inch lizard will bite thru a thumb nail and may require stitches for a small and quick bite and quickly remind you what a tree branch feels like when riding a bike (tail whip).

You have to remember that it takes igs awhile to socialize. It can take up to a year for some. Patience, persistence and not letting him win are the keys. Bribery never hurt either...

i'll get it right eventually, he's responding better to the hands off approach and i'd much rather he come to me than me chaseing him but i still have to catch him to keep his toe clean. i decided to hand feed him while sitting in his cage and he stepped onto my hand acouple time to reach the food...he aslo tryed to eat my fingers a couple times, and he seems to have choosen the corner he wants to use as his bathroom so im going to use that to my advantage and slowly put a litterpan there to help keep the cage clean oh and since he was so freaked by the flyswatter i left it in his cage and he's getting used to it

It just takes patience, sometimes a lot of patience! The fact that he will eat out of your hand is a good sign. Just watch your fingers because he won't! You might try leading him into your lap with a favorite food and just let him sit there for a bit. Sort of a variation on the carrot on the string. With Zok I think she would walk thru a wall of fire to get a peice of bread!
