Kyo likes to bask in the "swimming" position, legs extended back along his tail, front legs back against his sides.
When he is in this position, and I go in there, he will get up on his front legs, dewlap partially extended, but keep his back legs extended back (relaxed).
Is this an inquisitive posture? It seems that he is just interested in what I am doing in there, but not interested enough to move to check it out.
I would look it up, but one of my kids ran off with my "Iguanas for Dummies".

Yup, its kind of a "I'm not sure what to think about the situation, but it doesn't scare me either" gesture. Some igs, like my Hercules, will always do this, no matter how long you have had them and how much they trust you. Others, like my Audrey, won't even budge when you approach them once they have learned to trust you. So, it seems to be an individual personality thing.

I agree. its almost like they are raising up to see what you are doing but thinking "Oh its YOU!" And not get too concerned. If they were afraid or aggressive they would be standing tall ready for whatever.

Yes, almost exactly like that, Tesa Thanks all for confirming that. I just thought it looked kinda cute, and wondered about it.
