well, larry is a baby, and i have read a lot that iguanas love water. so i put a lil dish in his cage for him that is big enough for him to go in, and he avoids it at all costs. if he comes close to the dish he will straddle across it to avoid getting wet. when i spray the cage lightly for more humidity, he hides so he doesnt get wet. we put a lil warm water at the bottom of the bath to give him a bath, and he flipped out and tried with all his energy to get out. is it because of his young age that he doesnt like water, or is he just an anti water ig. cause i saw mentioned on here to put them in the bath to do they're business. that sounds like an awesome idea, but i was just wondering how old he has to be to do that, and how can i do that if he doesnt like water?

I would recommend that you put him in the tub at least once every day in warm water that is shallow enough so he can easily stand in it without feeling threatened. There are some igs that hate water, but usually it just takes them a little bit of time to get used to it. The more often you put him in there, the quicker this should happen. Its just a new experience for him and he's scared, its perfectly normal. Just make sure to very slowly and very gently lower him into the water. If you move him too quickly, he'll feel threatened and then start to freak out.
Here's what might happen if you're successful in getting him to like the tub. My male iguana, Hercules (just turned 9), when he needs to poop, will actually stop whatever he is doing, walk to the bath tub and climb in on his own. Then, he usually waits for me to follow him and put some water in the tub. When there is enough water in there, he poops, then will look up at me when he's done and I lift him out. Then the mess goes right down the drain. He also likes to just go into the bath tub and play in the water for a while, submerging and blowing bubbles with his nose.
I almost have my recent adoptee, Audrey, trained to do the same thing, just a little more work and she'll be the same. The only thing is, she still doesn't like to go into the tub just to play in the water...she's there to poop and get right back out. ;D

The first time I took Eki for a bath. I did it in a big white tub. He freaked the very frist time and ran around a lot. But as he got tired he calmed down.
The second time he didn't run around as much. He walked more and relaxed much faster then got tired again. He doesn't mind water. He sits in his water bowls as it is and loves misting.

Some igs just don't seem to like water! Mar's ig Bob hates it and my Zok just sort of tolerates it. One thing,... you don't have to have water in the tub for them to do their business. With Zok since day one I have just put her in the tub , bottom over the drain with a little warm water running from the faucet and she goes and Poof! right down the drain! Much easier clean up.
However I do give her showers.

For very small igs...fill the tub first. Some igs freak at the noise of faucet water. Zair is the opposite. He hears the water running and comes running... ;D

Will still doesn't like it, so we have a deal. He gets in the tub with water, poops immediately and I take him out immediately. We've been all thrown off this routine for awhile since he has his eating disorder. He would love your plan, Merlin, when he poops regularly again. Sean, your igs are something else!!!! I picture Hercules a little like a dolphin when he goes under and blows bubbles.

Will still doesn't like it, so we have a deal. He gets in the tub with water, poops immediately and I take him out immediately. Well...that's a good first step in his tub training, Nancy. You're doing EXACTLY what you should to get him used to the idea of pooping in the tub, he'll view getting out of the "horrible water" as his reward for pooping. Like Merlin said, not all igs are going to like water...I actually have to force Hercules to come out and not play in the filth, he actually loves the water that much. Just base the reward on your ig's personality, for Hercules, I take him out, drain and clean the tub, then refill it and set him down on the bathroom floor near the tub. Minutes later, he's back in there (on his own, I don't put him back in) blowing bubbles with his nose...he LOVES IT. ;D

Hercules is something! A wonderful ig! I want so much to get back on a routine with Will. I guess I'll keep up with his baths though he rarely poops in there anymore. (Very irregular eating)

Kyo hates the bathtub, but I found that he likes the birdbath outside I bought one of the plastic ones that come apart and for the summer would fill it with warm water, take Kyo out and he would have a ball. When he was done, cleaned it out, took it apart, and put it away. Now that it's cooler, and we can't do that, I took the basin part, set it in the tub, and filled it. It only took him two days to realize it was his birdbath, and now he just plays away. Maybe one day soon I'll be able to get rid of the birdbath in the bathroom....

Yoda will poop almost immediatly and make me change the water ( if I dont change the water I am punished and get to wash the whole bathroom due to a tital wave created by a freak out ) once I change the water Yoda is happy to stay as long as she sees fit.....then I get the old tital wave thing...letting me know to add warm water or get her out now......unless I feel like washing the floor again... ....so I add more warm water right...? well ......she wants out ....if I dont take Yoda out "NOW................. " I get to wash the floor...... Its really commical actually......not the floor washing part..but the whole ..." Whatch me manipulate this stupid human look" I recieve daily....... James and Yoda

"when to bathe?" when he stinks!
Narcy has a big cage, but his floor is lined with newspaper and unfortunately he does now and again drag his tail through his mess. . .even if it's just through the liquid part, he can get very smelly if i don't bath him.
