This episode has repeated about 3-4 times already. Every night, after my evening classes, I sit on the couch, place my Icky-the-Iggy on my stomach, pet him, and read. If the shirt is light, he proceeds to stare at me, stare at the book and promptly fall asleep. However, if the shirt is dark, he sometimes stares at its folds contemplatevly for a few minutes, before picking out one of them and biting it. Generally, he only does that once a night. Any ideas on why he's doing it? He's never bit me before, and is a pretty young ig (body, the length of your average pen).

He's tasting it to see if its edible! The lighter color does not interest him. When Zok was young she used to occasionally sample our carpet until it registered in her little green brain that it wasn't very tasty.

Yup, that's a test bite. While he's young, its a good opportunity for you to figure out what colors interest him and which don't. When he gets bigger, you're definitely not going to want him test biting on something so close to your body...believe me, I know. OUCH!!! ;D

Oi... Allright. 'll be sure to handle him while wearing light clothing.. Thankfully, I don't own anything green.. heard that Igs have issues with that, too.

Even with green...it all depends on the ig. Mine is fine with green...unless it's my chamo ig grips. Shirts are fine...even those with igs on them. Those ig grips, however, I have had the "pleasure" of being shaken by the arm as Zair used the Ig grip as a rag doll to let his aggressions out last breeding season.

Hrm. oO Well, Icky's added dark blue and purple to his disliked colors.. Is there any way to condition them out of those responces?

Nope...not that I know of anyway. Just like Veronica said, the color preferences are going to be different with each individual ig (green, yellow, and red are the most common favorites...then there are different shades, patterns, etc.). Pretty much all you can do is just avoid those colors when you're around Icky. Certain objects will set Icky off too. Hercules turns into Mr. Hyde if I get a plastic bag anywhere near him (doesn't matter what color it is either, I don't know how he knows what a plastic bag is, but he does). If I back away from him, and put the bag down where he can't see it...all of a sudden...he's Mr. Nice Guy again.
