Anyone ever feed them boiled. I diddnt get Green Beans this week as they were rather Yucky..So i got a replacement and tonite we had extra boiled greens beans (i cooked them so there was no salt or additives added). I figured why throw them out Yoda will like them. So tommorow im going to feed him some boiled green beans. They are really moist and he loved the small boiled peice of broccoli i gave him as a treat a couple weeks ago. Just wanted to see if anyone ever tried feeding boiled things as treats as i know they lose their vitamins...

Like you said, many of the good bits of the veggies are water soluble and get leached into the water when boiled (like ascorbic acid...AKA vitamin C). I bet your iguana will love them and I dont see any reason not to feed them to him, I just wouldn't make that be a major part of their diet.

The green beans in question, are they canned or fresh, because a lot of companies add salt to the beans durring the canning process, even though the ingrediants may just say water and green beans look at the nurtritional facts at the sodium if the beans are fresh produce green beans its not much of a problem at all. if they are frozen they are stripped of vitamine B and Thiamine and they are still ok but shouldnt be used for the every day feeding. Just remember as im sure you already know that fresh raw is the best as there is nothing stripped from them durring the boiling stage. or freezing stage

Actually, what is stripped during boiling/freezing depends on the vegetable. Neither one is good for the nutrients situation compared to fresh. That being said though, feeding boiled vegetables along with the other regular food...just so you won't waste those boiled veggies by throwing them away...is perfectly fine. Just be sure to mostly feed fresh veggies. Also, if your boiled veggies were boiled in anything like chicken or beef broth...then they are DEFINITELY off-limits to your iggy. Boiled in water, as a small occasional addition though, they're just fine. Just be aware, some igs won't touch them after they've been cooked or frozen.

I use frozen green beans without any objections from Falcore. It helps me to know that I have things like that in the freezer between fresh market trips... He LOVES the frozen strawberries, too.
