I was reading up on dandilion greens and i came across this article
Dandelion root is one of the safest and most popular herbal remedies. The specific name, officinale, means that It's used medicinally. The decoction is a traditional tonic. It’s supposed to strengthen the entire body, especially the liver and gallbladder, where it promotes the flow of bile, reduces inflammation of the bile duct, and helps get rid of gall stones. This is due to its taraxacin. It’s good for chronic hepatitis, it reduces liver swelling and jaundice, and it helps indigestion caused by insufficient bile.
Has anyone ever fed the roots and if so since it has medicinal values would this help keep the liver of iguanas healthy
just something I was pondering

Absolutely true article. You can feed the entire plant. I'm sure it would have very beneficial effects for for the entire body. My grandmother used to make dandelion fritters. I never had them, but Mom said they were a staple and everyone ate them.

Well my daughter and I went out an picked some fresh danylion out of the back yard. I chopped it up and this is his first dandylion greens and flowers salad so we will see how it goes. I also mixed it with the remainder of the collards and mustard that I chopped him day before yesterday

I always set the flowers on top as a garnish and then hide a couple so they peek through where Zair can see them...he just has to work for them. You might even do a little dandy recipe hunting for humans, too. There are quite a few recipes. I've never tried any, but I keep saying that one day I will.

Dandelion greens have long beeen known as a medicinal herb. They are a bit bitter so if you are picking for human palates you want to get them before they go to flower. They are less bitter then. Also dandelions are a diuretic in fact their French names translates to "wet the bed"! So if you want to eat them don't do it late in the evening.

Very cool, I always get double dandelion greens vs. the other greens when i can get them. They are in my eyes the best green for Iguana's. Though they seem to spoil the quickiest.
