I wouldn't try growing it in his cage. First it will get trampled and uprooted and the soil could be eaten. Second it will get pooped on. Third you are going to have to have some intense light to grow greens. You would be better served keeping the garden outside.

I grow some greens in falcore's cage with no problems yet. He poos pretty exclusively in his large water bucket, so that is okay. Everything is potted so it can be pulled out for daily cage maintenance. His UVA/UVBs seem enough to grow things okay, and I do not fret if he walks on it (no big deal).... With the abundance of munchies he has, the dirt (I use the bed-a-beast style coconut substrate soil as the 'dirt') I guess is not all that appealing... and should not pose a problem if he does taste it. If he were to try and ingest it, then I would reconsider, but as it is he has shown zero interest in the plants other than little bites of the very green tops and sprouts. Seeds a cheap... I do this with our Russian Tortoises and they mow it down to the substrate nearly daily. Again, seeds are cheap!
