Are there any foods that are known to stick with an iguana more than other things? Falcore is in such need of some weight, and if there are some things that aid in iguana weight gain (that are healthy for them to have as part of their diet) I would love to know so I can be sure to add it to daily offerings or in a rotation with other things I offer.
Thanks!

Actually...for an iguana to gain weight too fast means it's getting to much protein...even too much plant protein can be bad. It makes the kidney work overtime which is what leads to renal failure. Falcore will regain his weight on his own time with the good diet you provide...:-)

I do not want to "power feed" him or otherwise get fast results for MY sake... So I will not over-do it with protein (plant or otherwise). I am just looking for suggestions on food that will help put on HEALTHY weight over or in addition to the foods I am feeding. If there are none, no big deal, but I will include just about anything in his diet if it will help HIM.

As V said just givnig the proper diet in the proper amount will be the best action. The weight will go on. As a snake keeper as well you already know the risks of powerfeeding.

Right. I get it. I was just curious if there was some type of food (say, mango, for instance) that was known to be a bit more fattening to iguanas that was common knowledge that I had missed. Get it? I will totally keep feeding the correct diet and right amounts, but if there was something that was good for my iguana that also helped with weight gaining, I wanted to know about it for sure.

Mango actually causes diarrhea if you feed large enough amounts. Just the regular diet will be fine. Yams and sweet potatoes do help bulk up iguanas, but are also known for their high oxalic content reducing the ability to absorb the calcium.

I don't feed mango, it was a "for instance". Thanks for the info, though!

I don't feed mango, it was a "for instance". Thanks for the info, though! You gave mango for the example...so who was to know. You might stick with foods you do use...;-) You're very welcome for the info...:-D

But the whole idea was 'is there foods that I don't know of that put on the weight' to enhance my iguana's health. Hehe.... nevermind. Forget it all
