Some of you may remember reading about my poor past with CHEs. Bob's new cage is larger than anything that I have had so far and the MegaHeat HP is not entirely what I hoped it to be -- not to mention that the MegaRay is cooler than I thought it would be.
All in all I am ready to give a CHE a third and final attempt. A 75W bulb has helped my ambient temps a lot so I have the size down.
What brands do you guys like? Do you prefer the conical ones or the T shaped? Should I dome it or not (it will be caged and in a ceramic base)?
Now that I look there are 60 and 100 W but not 75W. Guess I will jump to 100 and let the thermostat control it.
Three brands I see are Pearlco, ZooMed, ExoTerra

I have never used a CHE before Mark. I know of two people who use the ZooMed brand and have had them for one and 5 years off one CHE. Of others...I know many people use them and the different brands, but I don't know specifics.

Mark I use the Zoomed at a 250 watt. The first one I had died an early death due to a power surge. Got so hot it melted the aluminum contacts in the base of the CHE. Luckily my local pet shop made it good for me. At the factory recomendation I put it on a surge protecter strip and have since had absolutely no problems.
I prefer to use the dome as it seems to focus the heat better.

Merlin told me about the che., I added a zoo-med 250 watt, to each cage temps are 92 at top and 75 at the bottom of the cage. Use a 8 and half inch dome. Have worked real well for me . with 3-4-6' cages.
