Hey there, I read Iguanaking's post about the UVB Mystic bulbs. I was really impressed by the numbers he has recorded from them and decided to check em out at big apple. They bulbs are around 25$, instead of the 75 that im about to shell out for the MegaRay EB. I would like everyone's opinion on what bulb would do the job best.
Thanks, Mark

Hi Mark, The jury is still out on the Mystic. Many fluorescent UVB lamps are known to go down-hill dramatically after a few weeks of use, so time will tell there. It has yet to be determined by anyone other than the manufacturer as to how safe they are, that's why I am currently monitoring them very closely. So...as for me...I really have no opinion on this yet. BTW...keep in mind that you'd need to buy two Mystics, since they are fluorescent tubes, and with the cost of fixtures for either one added in...the relative costs will actually be very similar.

Yes for true cost, you should consider replacement costs. Not sure how often you need to replace the Mystics but it is usually recommended to replace most fluorescents every 6 months. And the EB bulbs you replace once a year. Of course if you have a meter you can use them until they decay to the point you need to replace them. The replacement bulbs are similiar also but you may have to replace the Mystics more often. Again I am not sure.

ok, thanks, i think i will go with the megaray, because it has a bit more research done at this time. Plus, either would prolly be better than the 2 reptisuns i have now.
thanks, mark
