Ok I dunno if this is normal and Puppy is just doing a snalt thing or what. He is swallowing a lot and he is blowing stuff from his nose and coughing. I was scared he was choking because he's not done this so much so I pulled down his dewlap and opened his mouth and all I could see was foamy liquid in his throat and up by I'm guessing is his sinus cavity? Is he ok??

One possibility is some kind of respiratory infection. Listen to his breathing, do you hear any gurgling, popping, etc.? Does he have good ventilation in his habitat? Lack of adequate ventilation will breed bacteria that can easily attack his respiratory system. I'm sure his temps are ok, but underheating could also make him susceptible to respiratory infection.
The other question is...what, specifically, have you been feeding him lately? Please try to list everything you can remember. There are a few problem foods that, if not in small enough pieces, can cause stomach upset that leads to coughing and even regurgitation.

a little wheeze once or twice and his enclosure is very open, and his temps have been good. He has been eating torn up collard greens, and then on that he ate collard greens, mustard greens, and thinly chopped up green beans, all things that he's eaten before.

Any chance you can post a picture of the green beans as they are when you feed them to him? Green beans are one of the problem foods.

Yup, I'll bet that's your problem right there, those pieces are WAY too big. Here's what they should look like, these beans are on a 6" plate. A food processor is really the only way to go when chopping green beans to feed to your green guy.

DANGIT!!! I was for sure that small would be ok, his squash, paypaya, zuchinni, and wheat bread are all mashed together in a food processor, the green beans where an item we bought tonight and wanted him to have some of. Geez I swear I'm so worked up over this!! Brandt says he seems to be ok, he's just been lounging since his coughing fit has only coughed once. Man makes me feel SOOO bad!!

Heh...don't worry about it. How do you think I know how big they should be? I had to find out the hard way too. Oh, just for future reference, carrots, if you ever feed them to Puppy, also need to be ground up REALLY fine. But, on the other hand, I wouldn't recommend carrots in his diet at all, they're kinda hard on his liver. Just keep an eye on him, I'm sure he'll be fine, he's just got an upset tummy right now. ;D

Is this behavior and the excess mucus present other than when he is eating? From your discritpion of the bubbles in the mouth it really sounds to me like a respiratory infection. I would have a vet look at him. The earlier it is caught the easier it will be to treat. If you need a vet referral I have a good one but she is on the NW side of the city.

He seems to be fine now. I woke up several times that night to check on him, I'd listen to his breathing, check his temp (got a new temp gun) and i'd touch him to see if i felt any rattling and there was nothing. He has not done any excessive swallowing or sneezing since. I was SO worried!! After this everything except for greens are going thru the food processor!! His appetite is as voracious as ever (he's eaten two large salads a day plus fruit in the evening, he wastes nothing! i think he'd lick the bowl if he could) and he's very active and inquisitive when we let him out of the enclosure. When he's in his enclosure he stays on his basking shelf looking lazy. After saying this if yall think I need to still seek a vets opinion let me know and I'll get right on it!

Just keep a close eye on him. If it was only in conjunction with feeding and there are no problems otherwise I would say that Ig King is right about the food size problem. If it was a RI serious enough to cause the bubbling and coughing it wouldn't just stop in a few hours. I hope thats the end of it!
