Keeping the Neosporin on it should keep it soft enough to drain on its own but I wouldnt think a moist warm clean towel would hurt anything.

I know you said it appears to be a scratch, but could it be a burn blister, that got scratched open? Just a thought.

I could not get my pics to work here, If you could go to www.freewebs.com/mistykay/I have put the pictures on a free webs account. Couldn't get to good of ones. It is in the Black area to the left if looking at his head down. The scar in his back was apparently form someone leaving him in his own poo and he got infected?!? That was before we got him. The Vet say it is fine just looks bad. Please post any questions or helpful hints, and Thank You for trying to help

He seems to be getting better, I am still putting warm clothes and draining it, but it is alot smaller. The ointment seems to keep it from trapping the blood. Thank You all so much, I hope I NEVER need your HELP again. I am glad for places like this where real people can try to help! Thanks Again....Kristi I will keep you updated and post new pics in a day to compair.

Did the Vet giveyou antibiotics for it? If he has had infection before it may have come back. I dont mean to worry you. Is your vet experienced with Iguanas?

Very creative way to get your pics shown! ;D However - this looks bad. This is not something I've seen before and it has effected the arm, too. You need a herp vet who knows what he's looking at. www.arav.org <---click on "Members www.herpvetconnection.comwww.anapsid.org/vetsAs soon as you can...

You know...looking at the picture...and because there is constant drainage with this black "necrotic" looking tissue...it almost makes me think of a spider bite. Some spiders have pretty toxic venom that breaks down the tissue causing necrosis and fluid seepage. It can cause dead tissue in humans and this is kind of what looks like could be happening here. Brown recluse comes to mind. Not sure what a black widow looks like. Which spider do you have there?

I have to agree with Prism, now that I had time to really look at the pics, it looks bad. I dont know anything about spider bites. What kind of previous injury was the scar from? It looks to me like he had some pretty bad burns before.

I would say burn, Any chance he came in contact with a bulb or heat emitter? Do they have guards on them?

We live in centeral MN and I can't think of any spider that would be around at this time of winter. His lights are all on the outside of his cage, and his other "heater" is well out of his reach, so I am sure it is not a burn. The OLD scar I was TOLD was from being left in his own poo and he got a MITE infection, but this was over 6 months ago or longer. I have been putting a tripple anit-biotic on it, I don't think my vet knows her a$$ from a hole in the ground, but I am not sure where a good one is. I live in a small town and am in the prosess of calling around to find one who knows about igs.
