My Z is housed in an extra large size wire dog cage with shower curtain attaches to the sides to hold in heat and humity, and hardware cloth (i think thats what its called) over teh door and on the top where the basking lights are. i've coverd everyhole large enough for him to fit his head through yet he still escapes, if im late to feed him, or last ight i left teh space heater on to high and he must have got to warm. he's always ontop of his cage between the two heatlamp domes, which im afraind he might burn himself on if he keeps this up. he's leanred better than to escape while im in the room after a couple time when i was finding escape holes. and just grabbed him on his way out and stuck him back in. i dont know what to do

The size of the openings in the wire dog crate may be big enough that Zair is going thru and then moving under the plastic till he finds a way out. You might try covering the entire crate with the hardware cloth.

He is a scamp and I think Merlin's figured out the problem and the remedy. I don't think you'll have the overheating problem that you had with the shower curtain, either. It was worth a try, but it didn't work.

*sigh* i cant wait till my new room gets started , im going to build him a corner cage, and maybe my dad will help me put a sink basin in the bottom that works, it woujld be right next to the pipes so i shouldnt be to hard. this cage will be escape proof! but until than i'll have to wrestle the cage out of the corner and fix it up. ungratful little bugger lol

Eki is so little that he's able to be comfortable in a critter cage. I believe it's 44 gallons or something like that. It's very wide and long. I should measure it sometime. But it has a locking screenlid. It was about $80 for it. It works well. He can't get out =)

Merlin...my ig is Zair...lol.
Anyway...dog crates and baby igs were not meant for each other. The wires on the bars are just to big. You really need a different enclosure setup. It could be Z is getting out under the curtain.
