The best materials - Wood and Plexiglas...hands down.
HOWEVER - There are plenty of wonderful materials you can make work. The two listed provide the best in insulation holding in both heat and humidity...:-)

Just stay away from the aromatic ones like cedar and redwood. Pine is a common one, but has been put on the toxic wood list anyway. It's a lower lever toxicity, though and once sealed with 3-5 coats of polyurethane and/or paint...it's perfectly safe. The thicker the panels of wood, the better the insulation, but it also makes for an extremely heavy beast to move. Just go with the thinnest panels for that reason and adjust lighting accordingly...:-)

Zoks home is basically 3/4 inch plywood and Pine lumber. I have also seen cedar used for a nicer appearance. Since you are going to have seal it completely anyway there should not be an issue with it.

And that's a key to building a large ig cage! I didn't have wheels on mine, but I did buy some. The way Zair's enclosure broke down it was easy to move without them.

Mine's made out of 1x3's into frames for the top, bottom, sides and back. Then I made 2 more frames with the same wood for the doors. The frames are covered in a plastic mesh so as to be gentle on Sancho's toes when he climbs. When we move into our house I'll be turning my walk in closet into his new home though. I can't wait, creative juices are flowing! ;D
