Ya I know.....
But the thing is I would rather see it go to waste in the bowl than in the fridge....man ya dont realize how much greens you are buying until ya get home...
Also I am mixing Collards /Dandilion/ Buk Choy / an some Kale as well as Green Beans/ and Butternut Squash ... it is hard to make small amounts and judge the percentages....

I'm with you there James. I went food processor crazy last week and made enough to feed all the Igs in NJ. Just threw the last of it away. I've since learned. Prepare small portions. LOL

Teeeesa ... ;D/ Dom
On the feeding topic I was wondering about feeding tiimes , I gengally just keep a dish of Yoda's salad near by all day and let the little bugger eat when he/she is hungry... should I be setting a feeding time and if so at what age and or size? also is there any downside to just haing food dish filled all the time?
Thanks

well....the correct answer is .... we are supposed to feed them the majority of their food about mid-morning so they have time to digest it during the higher daytime temps....
BUT.. Thrasher eats a huge amount in the mornings, then snacks all day whenever she wants ...and always insists a snack before she goes to bed. She goes down there and stands over the plate if its empty and stares at me till I get off my butt and go get her something. lol spoiled little brat!

I keep food out most of the time during the day.
Then I usually "feed" them once in early afternoon and again in early evening.

Yoda's Lair- Should be complete by the end of November , Dimensions are 7 ft tall 5 ft wide and 4 feet deep. it is a corner unit complete with Bamboo trim 3 floors dual basking lights , dual 5 ft uvb's with a winding pvc (rope wound) climbing gym and waterfall/pool ...the whole project has taken a life of its own ....lol... and to top it off I want Yoda to be a free roamer oh well.. I just want my little buddy to be as comfortable as possible for the next 20 years or so,,, Yoda and James In my opinion, free roaming igs are the happiest. It takes a lot of preparation, but it is worth it. My iguana, Iggi, was a free roamer from about 1 year old. I had her sleeping in a floor-to-ceiling cat tree. She now has her own bedroom

Your right you don't know how little greens you really buy when at the store -- my ig went through .5 pounds of greens in two sittings over 12 hours.
I hate to waste shredded veggies too so a few days ago I thought why not Bob likes this Ig Den Salad enough, and he has good taste (hey he likes my room and the door-less cage that I built for him), I should try this salad. My dinner was the same as his second feeding of the day but I added some olive oil, red wine vinegar, and grated parmesan. Sounds crazy at first but then you go pay $2 for less (carrot, onion, and iceberg) with dinner at a restaurant and this salad tastes really good too.

Rex is also a free-roamer. Although, it's not like he roams very far.
He usually sits in his night basking spot or his day basking spot. Ocassionally, during the warm summer months, he'll walk around the house, terrorize poor Rambo (our rescued baby), then mosey back to his spot.
But, I feel lucky that I don't have to mainatin some of the mega-enclosures required for full-grown Igs.
Ig_Daddy- Does Iggi ever get into trouble or mess up the place? I had some wild experienced with Rex tearing things up and poop painting the kitchen when I didn't take him to Petco and he overheard us talking before we left. LOL

I am sure I will have Yoda free roaming full time as a adult....he/she is already out more than in ...I am however building a great enclosure ... I am sure there will many times over the next 15-20 years where I will have to get a sitter ...and if he turns out not to particularly like the Idea of me going away without him ...It will be nice to know his enclosure will be there ...to lessen the stress of some possible stranger looking out for him...
at least thats my justification to this ....project...lol

Hi James-
Yes, I agree very much. Go for it!
Rex's "Iggysitters" have been around him for years, since he was a wee little Iggy. So, we don't have that problem.
It is however, very important to get someone used to him and vice versa, now, so you won't have a problem later on. They are very sensitive creatures and a small change, like you leaving can cause big problems, like him going off food while you are gone. Unlikely, but it can happen.
