Wonderful pics Tesa!
That's a lot of eggs, did they happen to count them?
I have to say, they look much better pickled in a jar. LOL
It's amazing how that little belly can hold all those eggs!
So glad to see Thrasher is doing well and on the road to recovery.
One thing is for sure, you never have to worry about this ever again!

I have to say, they look much better pickled in a jar. ***ummm...you mean like the ones i keep on my kitchen coutertop? quit making fun of my grandchildern!
One thing is for sure, you never have to worry about this ever again! ***UNLESS...there were problems and a bit of ovarian tissue remained inside, which could regenerate in yrs to come and cause big probs, eggs inside with no way to lay them.
not saying that to scare you tesa, i'm sure yous was a nice clean, planned surgery. this more likely happens in emergency surgeries, when eggs have broken & made a mess inside, or if an inexperienced / incompetent vet does a shoddy job. just something folks should keep in the back of their mind for those obsure situations.
tesa, so glad everything went well. :-)
my vet is rather pricey nowadays. his spay/neuter is $500-$650, including everything. a good vet about 1.5 hrs from me charges more like $200-$250 ish. one person got a quote of $80. BIG red flag. when asking for more details, they admitted that they had never actually done an iguana before but figured it would price out to the equivalent of a small dog, right? now THERE is where you get your ovarian tissue left behind, if the poor ig even lives thru it.
tesa, you were SO on top of everything! this is usually the ig that dies. doesn't look real sick, let's just wait and see. yep, wait and find it dead, or too far gone to save. thrasher shoudl be VERY thankful to have such a good mommy.

In one of the pics I have, I can easily count 31 eggs from the top view. Considering the lump underneath that can't be seen, I'd say there were 40-45 of them.
Maybe the vet took those out of some 10 foot alligator and is tricking me. ;D

I am so amazed that she had all of that inside of her. No wonder they don't want to eat when they are gravid, there's no room for anything else!!
Glad to see she is doing so well and recovering nicely.

I'm still amazed every time I look at the pics. lol She is acting normal, eating well, and doesn't seem to be in any pain. (Doc gave her pain meds) I think she'll be back up to par in no time. Thanks everyone for your support and good wishes. It's meant alot to me.

It is amazing how many eggs they have, Zok's first lay blew my mind! At least now its over and you can get back to normal.
Hmmm is normal a term you should really use around iguana people? ;D
