Hi, My names is Aslynn and my fiance is Chris. We are new to having an iguana, but we want to eventually start breeding them. We lived in Georgia when we got our first ig. He was killed by my sister inlaw's iguana(Billy) who was considerably larger than our baby ig. But we were told that it would be ok to put them in the same cage until we got our own cage. Billy is very territorial. He broke our little one's back. Chris rapped him and put him in a small butter bowl and taped the lid so nothing could get in it. He took it into the back yard and buried him and put a rock on top to mark his grave.
Chris surprised me about 2 months later with a new baby(Gomer), his own cage and his own little cave to hide in. ;D We recently moved back home(Oklahoma), we've had Gomer for about 2 months and we realized that Gomer isn't getting everything that he needs. So I decided to look up information on iguanas on the net and I found this place. I love it. I've never seen so many people as dedicated to their animals as the people here. We were lucky to have found this site.

A couple of days ago Chris was holding Gomer and he decided to take a flying leap out of Chris' hand. Chris grabbed him by the tail and Gomer broke free. I do mean BROKE FREE. His tail is broken off about 2/3 of the way. He looks bad without his beautiful tail and Chris feels terrible. Everytime he holds Gomer now, he kisses him on the head and says how sorry he is.
We're going to build him a new house soon so I've been looking at everyone's pictures and getting some ideas. There are some great houses. We want what's best for Gomer, so we're going to get everything. We don't have any pictures of him yet, but as soon as we do, we'll post them. If anyone has any advice for new ig parents, feel free to give it. Thanx
