Hello, I'm a 26 year old child psychologist with a new baby. I live in Lisbon, Portugal (the spot on Europe's coast that's approximately in front of new York, give or take an inch on the map). I have a great, but somewhat strange family, so this is how I got my Iggy: 1) Kid brother moves out of the house to live with girlfriend 2) Girlfriend's sister buys Iggy as a Last Christmas present for my kid brother, just because it's cool and cheap (at least for her that just bought the Iggy it was!) 3) Last February kid brother breaks up with girlfriend and moves back home plus Iggy 4) Kid brother is not very consistent in feedings and cleanings 5) Me feels sorry for the little green thing and sort of takes charge 6) Little green thing starts to mischievously seduce me 7) Whole family makes fun of me on the account of time spent caring for or studying about caring for the little green thing 8) Me and kid brother now make up the perfectly traditional parent couple: I take care of little green thing (and have all the fun) and he pays the bills! ;D Oh little green thing is about 1 year old now, has been in my care for the past seven months, measures about 57cm head to tale and weights 200g +/-. And that's about it. Now you know almost as much as I do. Anything you want to ask, just feel free. Best of luck to you and your green babies Tania

don't mention it Lyn I actually have a lot of fun doing it. The amazing thing is I haven't had a pet since my turtledove, and I was 9 then! We just didn't have any pets because although 4 grown-ups live in the House, we all have mad schedules and a not so big flat and we always thought it cruel to have a pet if we couldn't care for it properly. Guess what, since the Iggy came home, we have made room for him. Now is in a 100cmx50cmx60cm horizontal terrarium, but when needed we already have a 150cm(h)x120cm(w)x100/120cm (d) space assigned to it. It will not be ideal, but it's the best we can do. And that's almost more space per Iggy than per human! Oh... for someone that didn't wanted a pet I'm really starting to get addicted, I really am. Does anyone know about an Anonymous Iggs?

Tania, Welcome to the Zone. Loved your introduction as well. I know well the addiction, we just brought home a Crested Gecko from the Toronto Reptile Show this weekend. We are definitely addicted also. Ig Anon, sounds great. We need a chapter up here in Canada too.

Woo Hoo!!! My ancestry is Portuguese!! Our family has been in America since the early 1900's though... I'm 3rd generation American on both sides, but I do have family in Portugal still.
Do feel free to use the Iguana Brochure, but note that I'll be revising it soon as my email address has changed, and I want to make some additions to it.
Tania, I'm SO glad you found us, and I'm looking forward to talking with you more.

Well... I must say, a person really feels welcome here! For that... thanks everyone! I also have to say this is the best forum on Iggs I've found so far and I have been looking up a lot of those. Most of advices on forums are more opinions that knowledgeable information. And unfortunately in Portugal, there's still very limited information on Iggs. Here I have the feeling that at least some of you have been doing this for years and years and really know what you are talking about. And that's very reassuring. And also I've noticed that some are really devoted to working to protect Iggs. Thanks for that too. Steph, If you're ever on these parts visiting family or otherwise please let me know. And If you need a place to stay it can be arranged. The same applies to the rest of you. Just not all at once, ok?
