That does look kinda nasty. And it is a bad location to get an infection. Here is a link to a home test you could try: www.anapsid.org/iguana/blackspot.htmlIt would probably be best to let a reptile vet take a small sample to see what to prescribe. I hope that gets better soon

It's possible it could be a fungal infection...or bacterial. The best way to deal with it is a vet visit - not home treatment. Depending on how long this has been going on...it could be deeper than the surface tisue and need something stronger.

I'm with the above notions, it sounds like something that's more than just on the surface if it's always coming back. If it was a first time appearance I would've suggested Betadine baths and polysporin but we don't know what kind of infection it is so, a vet is your best bet on discovering what the real infection is. keep us posted on Aslans progress.

Thanks for all the Info I called every vet in town and found one that would see aslan he goes tomorrow at 10:30am Awesome!! Sometimes, however - you have to go out of town for a herp vet. Some are lucky enough to have one in the same town. We have a new vet here who is willing to work with exotics and knows basics...but will refer me to the next closest REAL herp vet one who is about 75 miles away. Do let us know how today goes!!

We are back from the Vet and it turns out it is an old wound that is infected the vet gave aslan some derma-vet ointment to put on it two times a day and said that it would heal slow and to keep the ointment on it to keep it soft but other then that the vet said he was in very good health and looked well taken care of .

Great news!! I hope this takes care of it. I would think an oral antibiotic would have been administered, too...but maybe just the topical treatment will do. I'm sure you have better peace of mind now that you went too... ;D
