So.. a wee bit of an update. Eki's leg infection got worst to the point of spreading. Iguana puss isn't like runny or gooey. It's more cheesy and clumpy. Anyway, the infection either got impacted from the last cleaning when being flushed out or it was spreading and we didn't realize it. The vet tried his best to get the most out without hurting Eki unfortunately he started to feel the digging and was resisting (as would I if someone was digging at a hole inside my leg.). Well the vet stopped and said we'd have to sedate him to finish the cleaning and removal of the infected puss. So Thurs, July 17th Eki is scheduled for a minor surgical procedure that shouldn't take long but Eki will be given a basic anesthetic (sp?) to sedate him long enough for the Vet to cut open and clean out his leg. We're hoping this will clear out the infection for the last time if it doesn't we may have to amputee the leg in the future. But lets hope he recovers from this nasty infection.
The good news is he's still eating, he went through a big shed last week and he's still acting like his normal self. He is fighting off the infection but just needs some help is all. I'll keep you all posted as soon as Thursday rolls around and we get him that evening or Friday morning.

POOR EKI!! What bad luck for him. Iggy pus is like cottage cheese making it SO much harder to clean out. I'll be thinking of him Thurs!!

I hope Eki came through like a trooper...He sounds like he's a strong one! Hopefully the vet gets everything out of there and he'll heal up nicely! Let us know how it goes.

My boyfriend took Eki to the vet on thursday morning around 9am. The surgery took about 1.5 hours and the vet had to remove most of his femi pores on left back leg where the infection had spread and was wedged into the muscle tissue. Some of the muscle and skin was removed as well as the large puss mess that was infected. We weren't able to pick him up friday due to work so we got him Saturday morning. We're giving him two meds to help with antibiotics and the other escapes my mind.. He has stitches that won't be removed for about 20days.
His movement is restricted to one level of his habitat at the moment to prevent him from climbing too much. He has to keep to one level for about 5 days. He's been eating fine, hasn't pooped yet since being home sat morning. We're keeping an eye on him. We have to keep him very very dry and clean and on one level is gonna be tough so I foresee many baths to wash the leg. He doesn't flinch anymore like he was before. He's not in pain anymore like he was when his leg was massively swollen.
The vet is very confident that if we keep eki clean and tend to him he'll be fine. So for now that's about it. his poor leg will never have the pores ever again on that side. But his other leg can do all that scent marking for him!
He's been letting us feed him, pet him, and in a few days we'll bring him out for holding but for now, letting him adjust to one level living.
Also.. sorry about the delay. With work and what not been very busy and not at the pc and celebrating my birthday just to find out I need to move in the next 4-6 months. So fairly stressed atm. Thanks for all the warm wishes, Eki's fine.
Oh yes.. the Vet bill was $410.00 not to mention the $70 the week prior for the vet looking at the infection and cleaning it a wee bit to find out we needed the surgery.

Actually...that cost is very low! You're very lucky...and so is Eki...:-) Sounds like you have a great vet.
Stress...take a breath and slow down. Everything comes out better in the end when you simply roll with it...:-)

I have photos of the stitches and what not. I'll post them soon in the next day or two when I have free time to do it all.
