My iguana, Russell, has moved with us to our new house about a week or more ago. Although his appetite has been good, he has not pooped since we've been at our new place. He's in the same cage he was before so that hasn't changed. He is in the room where my dogs are and has exhibited some fear of them although they do not show any interest in him. He stayed in the corner of the cage in a vertical position for a full day, but has calmed down and moves around a bit now. He has not been descending to the bottom of the cage (about 3 ft. off the ground) to climb in his water pan like he usually does. He doesn't seem to be bulging in his stomach or showing any other odd symptoms. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Is he potty trained? If so, he may be reluctant to use the pan because of his fear of the dogs. I would either keep the dogs out of that room, or move him to a room where the dogs cant get in. See if that works. You can also try a nice soak in the tub, and gently rub his sides. It sounds like the dogs are just stressing him out which isnt good for his health.

The tub is a good idea. You can also block the portion of the cage with some kind of screening so he can't see the dogs in his "potty" area where the pan is located. Give him a place to be able to hide in general so he can come out of his own accord to check out the sights instead of forcing him to deal with it and the feeling of nowhere to go.

Thanks for the advice. I will try both responses. Is there a way to potty train them? He usually just poops any where in the cage. I'll block out the lower portion so he feels more secure. Thanks!

You can potty train using the tub. It takes a set routine...but once it is set...they stick to it. At the same time everyday set him in the tub. Once he poops you can rinse the tub and then let him soak.
Zair used to be water pan trained until a female that was living with him used it for the first time. He's never used it in his enclosure again...and that was years ago. He does use the water pan when he's in his outdoor enclosure.
Do a google search on *potty training iguana* and you'll have several links come up for different ways to do that...:-)
