Check this out.. im trying to get my iguana to gain weight. i was told by another iguana owner that feeding my iguana freash weed (Marijuana) would give it the muchies and it will eat more often. i dont think ill go down that route but what do you all think about that..
Unfortunately I used to know a family that thought it was fun to blow smoke in the cages and feed them bud. Both of their Igs died after living in that condition for a short time. If you want your Ig to gain weight check the threads in this section. There are plenty of good mix's to give them. Make sure you have plenty of UVB and make sure the iguana isn't stressed out or else that will impact the appetite.

Marijuana is toxic to Iguanas whether fed to them or blown in their faces. Do not take your friends advice it is incorrect and deadly to your Ig. A balanced diet is what your Ig needs. Read through our diet section for salad ideas.

well i would never do that or feed that to my Iggie anyway.. it was a topic i started just to get people opinion and have something to look forward to read when I'm on here. if some of you'll notice. i will time to time post a really outrageous question just to have responses and read all about it.. as for my iguana weight issue everything is all good now it is pigging out like it use to.. only thing i did was to let it out the cage more offend. the trick was to try and find it's comfort spot and i found that he love it on the window seal. in the afternoon when the sun is at it's highest ill let it out on the window seal and spray it its warm water. and leave it there till it start to get alil cold out side. i came to find out my Iggie was just stressed cause it wanted to be out of its cage more often. as for the weed thing I'm with toad on what he said lol
I used to own 2 iguanas one was male other was female they never did get along so I had them in separate habitats im an iguana lover myself an I did decide to get my female iguana stoned cuz she was always mean everytime I went to pick her up she wuld bite the crap out of me an whip me the marijuana seemed to chill her down a hole lot an never had any problem with any health issues I did this for a couple months but did not do it everyday mabey like once a week or 1 every two weeks sadly I had to get ride of them after owning them for only a year I moved to Minnesota an during the winter time its way to cold an train wouldnt let me bring them on so I gave the male to my sister she only had him for 2months when she asked her friend to watch him well her friends son has down syndrome an squeezed it to death I was really pissed about that the female went to what I thought was a loving new iguana owner he was a good friend of mine he had her for only 5months before he decide to stop feeding it an tragicly she died I regret giving them away I now own another iguana after several years later now live back in california havent smoked or even tried to get my iguana high learnd over the years that its wrong an brutal to do I now keep them separate koolaid is now shedding an lookin beautif not sure of the sex its still way to young to tell

Hello Anonymous. That is one sad story... it seems like crazy things like that happen way too often with exotic animals. I hate hearing about them but I guess it's a good reminder. Every once in awhile I come across a story like this and it gives me the chills. I'm glad you don't do that anymore and I'm glad you have learned how terrible it is. I hope Koolaid lives a long and healthy life never having to be exposed to such things.
If only I had something to eat. . . . . mmmm pumpkin flowers
