:-/My Iggy escaped last week, he was gone for two days. Here in England in october, thats not really very good news. But I had the faith and sure enough one of my nieghbours spotted him 15ft up a tree a couple of doors down the road. He'd even crossed a small river that runs threw all our gardens! Trouble is, he hasnt eaten a thing since. He got pretty cold out there, but that was 10 days ago! Any ideas? How long can he go without food? he is 3/4yrs old. Always eaten well and is nearly 5ft long. any suggestions for somthing he wont be able to resist?

Hi there zulu, You might try a bit of moistened white bread or some watermelon. My two go absolutely crazy for either as a treat. As for how long they can go without eating, the easy answer is " it depends on a lot of different factors." If he/she was in good health and well fed before this happened, then they can go for alot longer than 10 days without eating. My male had a major freakout one time and was so depressed after he did not eat for nearly three weeks. The more important aspect is hydration. The lack of fluids is a much more serious problem. If your ig will drink water from a dish or a mister then it should be okay. This is where the watermelon is a big help, almost all water. I hope this helps, and I am sure there are a few with more knowledge and experience than I that will help out as well.
