i was looking throw my pics and found some pics of my baby when i first got him from the pet shop.. surprisingly no one knew he was a red iguana. everyone thought he was just on the verge of death.. i even got a discount for him. he was dark brown very skinny and eye was alil sunken in and blk spots all over his body as if he was burned.. only way i knew that he was a reddy cause of his eye color. here a pic of him 4 days after i bought him.. as u can c he was just picking up his weight.. his fat lil stomach and skinny tail. well it took some time to rez him from the death but here a pic of him now 10/22/09

wow, hes a good looking iguana. I would suggest taking that bark out so he doesn't end up accidentaly choking on it. LoL, for a minute I thought that chameleon might be real but at closer look I realized it wasn't

i would, but seem like that the best thing to put in there is the bark.. he wont eat it tho. he been raised with it.. even if the bark ended up in his food somehow.. he such a picky eater he will eat around the bark. as for the chameleon seem like my iguana love it cause it get alil hot from the heat emiter so that normally his hangout spot

It does look like you have done a good job so far of getting him back to par. But he does need to be taken off of the substrate as was mentioned. Aside from being an impaction hazard, it also is a bacterial hazard when he deficates on it. There is no way you can get it all out when he has gone potty unless you change it ALL out everyday.. Many a people seem to think that just because they don't see thier guy eating the bark that injestion hasn't occured until it is too late. Swallowing a peice of that can also cause major damage to the esophagus. I feel you are running a terrible risk by leaving him in there..

if your not gonna give up using bark then i suggest at least put newspaper at the bottom and LIGHTLY put the bark on top, try keeping the food and water area clear from bark, the last thing you want is bark getting in the food as when the iguana trys to eat its greens and a piece gets stuck on one then it will eat it on accident. You say your iguana is raised with bark well first off the pet stores dont know what they are doing period so yeah your iguana might of lived with bark in the time he lived in the pet store, but your iguana is NOT that old so to say it was raised with it is wrong since it only lived with it for maybe just 2-4 months which it not long at all.

Absolutely no loose substrate should be used. It is an impaction risk as Igs have sticky tongues and can accidentally pick stuff up when tasting their surroundings.
