I just want to start by saying that I also get the crazy talk from people. They all think I'm nuts for having so many lizards (9 including Camille). I tell them I know a lot of people on the web who have a lot more than that. I am always quick to let people know I have lizards at work, too. Anywhere I go, really. I have pics of the ig cage on my phone, so I can show them. They can't believe it. But it's so wonderful. Camille still isn't content with me yet, but oh well. She's finally settling in in her new cage. She still flips out beyond control when I go in and try to get her during the day, with tail whips and such. She moves so much, I can't grab her. I usually have to back down, but not before I make loud, stern noises at her, and raise up...trying to be the alpha ig. I want her to know she hasn't intimidated me...I even turn away from her as I leave, to show her that I am dominant enogh that I don't HAVE to see her to know I'm in control. (When I'm really thinking "Please don't jump at my bare, open neck!")
But at night, I can usually get her down and hold her for a few. Haven't got to lately, besides tonight...I've worked 37-40 hours a week 3 weeks in a row, and have 14 credit hours at school. Add that to a demanding girlfriend, and I hate to say it, but Camille sometimes doesn't get handled. And boy does it show. I give her a bath once a week in the tub when I clean her cage real well, and it's a 15-20 minute battle to get her down off the shelf and to come with me. She still fights the whole time. Last week she made the mistake of closing her eyes while I was stroking her dewlap to calm her down...she tried closing them to ignore me, but really just gave me the perfect shot at grabbing her! Ha ha!
But I got a new harness for baby igs Monday. I tried to get her into it tonight while I was holding her and watching The Daily Show...but I couldn't get her arms in. She kept squirming, and making me focus on keeping grips on her instead of fitting those claws in the holes. I hope to make it work tomorrow night when I hold her...after of course a 9-hour shift and an online class test...along with feeding all the geckos.
On other news, which is the closest thing I've talked about to illness...the Terminix guy came this morning. He sprayed the house again for roaches. They've been gone from the house for a bit...but my room is the problem, because of the humidity and heat...not to mention the greens and veggies set out until I can get home to take them out. He sprayed some non-fume stuff in all rooms, and outside the house. I hope it works...still roaches in the cage tonight, but didn't expect it to work THAT fast. Also, the PESTACATOR plug-in thing I bought has been plugged in a few weeks...should start working before too long. Once all the roaches are gone, and I get paid again...I'm going to drive Camille a LONG way to the nearest Vet that deals with igs...Champaign, IL...the University of Illinois department. I want to get a fecal test to see if she has any parasites from the roaches/feces...also just normal check up, and I would like to have a blood panel, with some blood being sent to that one place someone told me about where they DNA Test for sex. If someone could please let me know what that site was again and any other info I need...please feel free.
I've typed too much...probably lost a lot of you long ago. If you still are reading this...thanks, and have a nice night/day/whatever it is wherever you are.
