heh, im trying the hands off way of tameing and he seems to be responding better to that, so today i hand fed him and then try'ed putting my hand over his head and back a few inches above him while he ate a pile of food i put on his hammock and it didnt seem to bother him to much until he ran out of food and started trying to taste my fingers, he stopped after i kept moving them away so i kept my hand there and went to get food with my other hand, i took my eyes off him for one second and my finger started to hurt it wasnt bad just some needle pricks and he let go my finger probably tasted bad it bled a little i cleaned it soaked it with peroxide and gota bandaid. Is it an improvment when he goes from thinking my fingers are a threat to thinking their food?

Eki tries to bite my finger all the time. He does think it's food and he licks it before hand. But I notice when he's going to do it. He rears his head back, mouth wide open and lunges forward. I stop him by waving my finger or removing it from his view. I also show I AM the ALPHA iggy mom by lighting pushing his head downward. Letting him know he is not the boss and cannot bite. It seems to work very well atm.
Well I wrote this, then went to hold Eki and take him outside in the sun for a while. He BIT ME! I wasn't too happy. I figured he was hungry so I gave him fresh food. But I was shocked! He's too young to hurt me yet. Thankfully.

They (generally) aren't biting fingers because they are hungry, they are biting fingers because they are brats! ;D (altho I have heard of igs biting at red/fruit colored nail polish)
Just keep re-enforcing WHO is the boss. There's not much else you can do aside from being very careful.

I don't wear nailpolish, I'm a chef. Clean cut nails. Well he stopped eating when we gave him more food. So it was because he's hungry.

For the longest time mine wouldn't eat out of my hand, so I'd rub it on his mouth until he smells it with his tongue and then he realizes I'm giving him food. Now he goes crazy and I have to make sure he don't bite my fingers. He bit me for the first time yesterday, but I pulled back in time for him not to grab on. Phew!

So, eki is living like a king. Fresh greens that I take the time to wash, lay out to dry then tear up and put in ziplock baggies with paper towels and the greens will last over a week. Well now he's getting some treats. Little tiny bits of apple and bananas. Only the color is so close to my pale skin he tries eating my finger. He's biting again. lol This time out of eagerness for the treat.

We're learning or have known. I'm learning. He's so eager at times to get the food he mistakes my hand for part of the food. But it's sorta cute for now. Dangerous when he grows up
