Now that I have been using the IR light the temps in Puppys enclosure are right where they are supposed to be. HOWEVER he has become more aggressive than ever before when I first initiate contact. Once I have him dominated and am holding him tho he's more tame than he's ever been. Did that just make sense? lol Is this because there is more heat or is it his breeding season? I can't tell if he's having a breeding season!

I know the more awake, the warmer they are the more active they are. I know nothing of breeding season.

Doesn't sound like breeding season aggression to me - but then every Ig is different - so anything is possible!
Margarita is kind of like that - doing everything in her power to keep from being "caught", but once you have a hold of her, she just melts in your arms & doesn't want to be put down! I just figured she was pulling the ole "play hard to get" routine LOL.
I would like to know the answer to this too, because her behavior has me puzzled as well!

;D
Well it sounds like you have the heating thing perfect to me ...
Just think You are happy , well fed and all toasty warm... life couldnt be better...
I would struggle too ....to stay in that comfort zone ;D
When you say more agressive ....you mean
Puppy try's really hard to stay away from someone reaching in and removing Puppy from this nice comfy zone right.
Sounds to me like Puppy is just reallly happy with the new temps ...
I would say if your Iggy was" wanting" to leave the Habitat ....it would be more reason for concern.
If you have everything just right ..your Iggy will become the King of his castle and want to enjoy his place....
If the temps are correct and Puppy is eating /pooping normal...his color is good ...I would have to say that the changes you have made are simply being appreciated...

James sounds about right! The exta heat is a contributing factor. Many times we hear of people having just got an ig tha has been in say substandard conditions and is just "so calm and tame". Once they get back in good shape they suddenly "get crazy". In other words they start to act like a normal healthy iguana. Igs can become territorial of their homes and see you as an invader. Once you have him and take him outside he is in YOUR domain.

boy can I ever attest to that! My sweet docile little Herbie that I adopted in May now leaves some nice marks on me with her tail when I get her out of her cage. lil brat!! ;D
(Boomer tries to also, but his teeny little tail is just laughable)

Puppy has quit whipping his tail at me but does gape and now turns at me now like he's trying to bite, but most times when I say NO real sternly he'll bow his head and try to run away at that point. Once in hand tho, he does the whole cuddling thing, my son says Puppy loves me more than him lol But I've only recently started letting him handle Puppy too.

Hey I can't believe I read this post!!!
Recently Massachusetts has felt the coldest it's ever been this fall. I doubled -up on Chance's lighting. He now has an extra bulb. AND I added an extra heating element as well. Yesterday I got bit for the first time. He's too young to be in breeding season. . . . . . I surely will not remove these heating materials, but will be less confident when trying to handle him. I never thought of that!!
