Its the ig's way of "de-stressing". Its a perfectly normal way for an ig to react to an unknown situation. It'll happen...off and on...for as long as you have your igs, don't let it bother you.

It's an iguanas way of saying "If I can't see you, you can't see me." Zair still does this at 6 yrs old. Especially when the ferrets pass by his cage. They will come up to sniff...his eyes shut. He goes away to his "iguana place."

Juan Miguel does this when being petted. Do you guys think that means she doesn't like it? However she doesn't close her eyes when one of the cats decides to sniff her, which is when you would think she'd be afraid.

They also close their eyes when they are relaxed and enjoying themselves. You just have to look at the situation and read the other subtle clues of your igs language. Not alwasy an easy task...

Yup, just like Veronica said, it is also when they are relaxing. There are all kinds of other body language cues that you'll learn over time. As far as the cat question goes, the iguana will usually recognize a cat as a known predatory threat (I don't know how they know, but they do. Its like ig ESP ). When they are in a known, threatening situation they keep their eyes open and focused on the threat.
