Just when I was starting to think that Juan Miguel was going to keep being a good, predictable girl, she throws this at me. For the past couple of days she's been escaping her room several times a day to get in the tub. She used to just get in there when she had to poop, but now she won't stay out. For example, this morning I found her in the tub, gave her an hour-long soak (keeping the water warm), fed her, found her in the tub again an hour or so later, gave her another hour-long soak, put her back in her cage, and now she's in there again.
I thought it might be the increased dryness in the air due to the weather that's affecting her, but we've been keep her cage extra humid by constantly spraying her self, cage, and food. And I've tried keeping the door to her room shut. Lord knows how she opens it up. Any ideas as to what is causing the strange behavior?

Get that girl to a 12-step program! ;D
Actually, I noticed Gil was wanting to spend more time in the shower when the weather changed and his enclosure was still set up for summer.... Is she perhaps going there because she knows it's a warm spot?
Double check the temps in her basking area to make sure they're adequate.

Ok are you talking about a bedroom as your igs room or her room being an enclosure for her?

It could be she needs some more humidity. It has been looked into that the best time to add humidity is at night. In the wild this is when the humidity level is at it's highest and then having the opportunity of drying out during the day. Even with the rain during the days, there is still time for things to dry out.
This may result in the need for added heat for night time, though, during the winter months unless you use the hot steam type vaporizor. Set it on a timer to alternate every couple of hours...2 on/2 off, or something similar.

Ok are you talking about a bedroom as your igs room or her room being an enclosure for her? The ig's cage is in my room, but since her cage door is often open she roams the room, so I can justify refering to it as "her" room. When I say I close the door to her room, I mean the door to my bedroom is closed. And I guess since she spends to much time in the tub now she doesn't want to dirty it, so now she's pooping in my parents' shower instead.

how big is your ig? She opens the door herself? My moms door does not close all the way and opens easley, could that be the case with you'r door?

Hercules does this every day that he free-roams. I'll come home in the evening and find him napping in the tub. I take him out, feed him again, and interact with him for a while...then...he goes right back to the tub, climbs in, and goes to sleep. I think he feels safe in there...but, on the other hand, maybe he does it in the hopes that I'll feel sorry for him and cuddle with him. For example: I know he also feels safe on top of his cage, but he always puts up an incredible fight when I try to remove him from the cage-top. On the other hand, I pick him up out of the tub, and I can lay his head on my shoulder and carry him without his arms even budging from their, "I'm so relaxed", along the sides of his body, positions. If I lie down after picking him up from the tub, he goes right to sleep and doesn't seem to want to be moved from his "cuddling with daddy" position.
