This is rather hysterical to me. Eki lives at my boyfriend's house where throughout the week I may sleep over anywhere from 1-5 days a week randomly off and on. When I am over I make sure Eki's tank is very clean, fresh food and water. My boyfriend does all of this as well when I am not around. But lately when my boyfriend Ed tries to feed eki he's jumped and sometimes bitten. Now Ed claims the iguana hates him, which is hysterical because I bought the iguana for him!
Eki is sweet when he's sleepy and not laying under his heatlamp all day when he's slightly shall we say "chilled?"
I've noticed that when the heater kicks in and he's directly under his warmest spot he gets very Excited and runs around a lot. He goes on little running fits around his tank and is rather hard to handle.
He does try to bite at my fingers but I snap them at him and firmly say NO.. He then stops. But for some reason my boyfriend is disliked by the iguana. It's noticable in handling. eki will croc-roll and bite at much more than he ever does to me.
Any suggestions? Eki's gotten so big lately. He's got his full round tummy. His nails grow insanely fast and do hurt. I'm not sure about teeth. He often tries to eat my nails (I wear no polish to attract him to color). He's also very particular. He wants to be watch while eating. He's a strange boy lately.
I'd say in the past month, every week he's a different iguana. I think he's deciding which personality is better. =)

Sometimes igs do this. They like one more than the other. I have heard of many igs like this. Your boyfriend may be out of an iguana... . I can only suggest what would work for socializing in general. Repetition and not giving up.

I agree completely. I make him hold eki and he actually does enjoy holding the iggy. But I just think he holds eki when he's hungry and wants to eat fingers.. :giggle:

Might it be that you've handled him more when he was younger? "Owner bonding" sort of thing? Speaking of being watched while he eats, Icky does that too. Maybe its a demand for attention/hand feeding.

Lately he refuses to eat for hours. I've noticed this and so has my bf. So I take him out hold him over the tuperware full of fresh greens and let him dig in, watching and holding him lightly giving him a choice of what he wants.. :giggle: Spoiled he is.
